The close proximity of Bonner Springs and Blue Valley SW would have made it very easy to swap out one or two teams to balance those regional tournaments, that is if balance was a priority.


To summarize the data, it sure looks like the Wichita or the Southwestern part of the state has stronger wrestling than the eastern Kansas City/Topeka region. You look at 4A and 6A, you will see a similar pattern. The crazy part about it is it's been like that for 40 years. Of course there's a few exceptions, and KC area always puts some studs out. But team wise, its always a measurable disparity in depth. I always thought the eastern part of the state would catch up some day, but I don't see a break in the pattern in the near future.
