Rolling the dice with ice

"Friday (late-evening):
Crews in the Wichita area responded to several wrecks Friday night. By 9 p.m., a spokeswoman for Via Christi says Via Christi's three campuses had treated eight patients involved in ice-related car wrecks. Another nine were treated for ice-related falls.

Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries and more than 20 vehicles were piled up in a crash reported a little before 7 p.m. on westbound Kellogg at the Central Business District. Westbound Kellogg was closed at the Central Business District exit.

Drivers were also asked to avoid the area of K-96 and Oliver where multiple crashes had the highway congested. East of Wichita, Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet says crews responded to several wrecks on U-54, west of Augusta. Crews in Butler County also worked an accident involving two semis. No one was seriously hurt."
