CHURCH SERVICE: There will be a short church service held Sunday morning at 7:00 am on the wrestling mats. We would like to invite all individuals to take part in the short service held before wrestling starts. We ask that when you enter the arena, you do so quietly while the service is going on.

SMOKING POLICY: The Kansas Expocentre is SMOKE-FREE! During all events, designated smoking will be outside the south center glass doors. Kansas Expocentre personnel will staff this area and they will provide individuals with a hand stamp. This hand stamp will allow admittance back into the facility.

PASS GATE: The pass gate is located on the south end / lower level of Landon Arena (handicap entrance). It is required that anyone entering the facility FREE OF CHARGE, enter through the pass gate. The pass gate is for wrestlers who are participating in the tournament (arms must have the appropriate marking), coaches with 2007-08 coach’s cards, officials, table workers, and press officials. Saturday morning ONLY, doors will be open to Exhibition Center until 8:00 a.m.

SECURITY: The Kansas Expocentre handles all of our security needs. If they find you on the floor without proper identification, you will be asked to return to the stands. Don’t argue with them, just do as they ask! To be on the floor, you must have the correct colored neck pass and wristband visible at all times.

COACHES: You will be allowed in the building free of charge when entering through the pass gate provided you have your 2007-08 coaches card with you. To be allowed onto the arena floor you must have both a copper/bronze level wristband and a coach’s floor pass.

Coaches will be able to receive their Copper/Bronze Level Wrist Band provided they show ALL of the following at a designated table prior to weigh-in (1:00 – 3:00 p.m.) at the designated area in the entrance of Exhibition Hall. During weigh-in time (Friday night 4:00 – 7:00), there will be a table designated for coaches to pick up their wristbands. The only other time coaches’ passes will be handled is each morning at the pass gate until 9:00 a.m.

1. 2007-08 Coaches Card
2. Copper / Bronze Level Certification Card
3. Identification (must be a photo ID)

Coaches passes will be given per state criteria of two FREE passes (see below), and then one additional pass per five wrestlers qualified. These passes are transferable, BUT only to Copper / Bronze certified coaches wearing the wristband. Transferable passes will be included in your club packet. Both the wristband AND the coaches pass must be visible at all times for security and officials to see.

In a decision made by your State Body at the November 2002 meeting, if you did not have a club representative present at this meeting, you forfeited one of your coaches passes. Also, if your club does not qualify any wrestlers, there will be no coaches’ passes in your packets. There will be no exceptions to this rule!  It was also the decision of your State Body in 2006 that any additional coaches passes will only be given out immediately following the coaches meeting in the presence of the Tournament Committee Members and District Directors.

By a decision and vote taken at the 2007 State Body meeting, roll call will be taken at the conclusion of the State Body Meeting. For those not present, then you would loose one of your coaches passes.

For clarification of this rule, if you did not attend the meeting you will loose ONLY one pass. If you signed in at the meeting and left, you will loose ONLY one pass.

TABLE WORKERS: District directors are in charge of finding table workers from their area. Club directors should contact them if you have individuals who are willing to offer their assistance. District Directors are:

   District III - Lance Engel (620) 241-5679
   District IV - Steve Woody (785) 626-3

Table workers will be admitted free only the day they are working. Table workers MUST enter through the pass gate (handicap entrance) and be wearing the correct colored neck pass. You can pick up your table workers passes Friday evening during weigh-in from your District Director. Table workers should not purchase a ticket for the day they are working.

There will be a two different colored neck passes for each day. You are allowed on the floor only during the shift you are working. Security and/or officials will not allow a table workers pass to be at mat side coaching.

PARADE OF CHAMPIONS / FINALS ROUND: The finals round is tentatively scheduled to begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.  ALL WRESTLERS participating in the Parade of Champions will be required to be in sweats. There will be two mats for 8 and under, then a mat for 5th-6th, 3rd-4th, 1st-2nd in each of the other age groups (10, 12, 14, & 16). Before the start of the finals round, all six wrestlers will be escorted into the arena. Only those wrestlers competing for the title of “Champion” will be introduced. These wrestlers should begin lining up in Exhibition Hall at 2:15 p.m. You can gain entrance to Exhibition Hall through Exit 8, north end / upper level. Remember, these times are all approximate! We will begin earlier if we find we are ahead of schedule!

COOLERS AND BAGS: The Kansas Expocentre will not allow any food, glass containers, or coolers to be brought into Landon Arena. They are under contract for all food, beverage, novelty, and concession services in Exhibition Hall and Landon Arena. If you bring a large bag, do not be alarmed when you are asked to open it. ALL BAGS WILL BE CHECKED!

DIABETIC WRESTLERS: If you have a wrestler that is diabetic, the Kansas Expocentre will be providing the necessary type of food to be available in a couple locations in the arena. Club directors or wrestlers should contact us prior to the tournament if they have someone who will need these diabetic services.

AWARDS / PHOTOS: Plaques will be presented to the top six finishers in each age group and weight bracket. The awards will be given in Landon Arena and then photos will be taken in Exhibition Hall. J & C Imaging will be taking action photos throughout the tournament and an awards photo immediately following the presentation of the awards. They will begin taking “awards” orders for photos at 11:00 AM on Sunday. Parents will be able to gain entrance to Exhibition Hall through Exit 8 (near section 125) located at the north end / upper level of Landon Arena.

VIDEO CAMERAS: Video cameras will be allowed in the upper level only. This means there are to be no video cameras on the wrestling floor during the tournament. We ask that tripods not be used because of safety and fire codes within the Kansas Expocentre. Please try to be considerate of others watching the matches when filming. This is not the decision of the tournament directors, but your executive council!

PRESS PASSES: Passes are given to individuals who are employed by their local paper to cover the 2008 State Tournament and will be admitted free to the tournament and on the arena floor, PROVIDED they have their official press pass from their local newspapers. Letters requesting you to take pictures will not work! Individuals with press passes will need to enter from the south-end (handicap entrance) / pass gate to gain admission. The Kansas Expocentre Security will be handling admission to the tournament for press people and will allow only those with the proper credentials from their newspapers into the tournament. You will receive your floor press pass once you present them with your press card.

CLUB BANNERS: Club banners may be placed around the arena, however, the Kansas Expocentre asks that they be hung with string only.

EMERGENCY PHONE: This phone number is to be used for emergency calls only! It is very difficult to hear from this phone, so please be patient with whoever answers. The phone number is (785) 233-7840.

2008 STATE PROGRAM BOOK

We would like to invite your wrestling club or local businesses to be a part of the 2008 Kansas Kids State Wrestling Program Book. The program book contains pictures of 2006 State Finishers, names of the 2008 state qualifiers, blank brackets, upcoming events, ads, general information pertaining to the state tournaments, etc. Why not make your club a part of the book?

These are available for sale during weigh-in on Friday night and in Mills Trophies / Awards stand throughout the tournament. The cost of the program book is $5.00.

In the past, several clubs have placed a team photo or have gone around to local businesses and asked them to help sponsor an ad in the book. Parents can also place an ad in the book wishing their son / daughter “GOOD LUCK!”

The cost of placing an ad in the program book is listed below. This year, we will also be selling advertising for the space above each of the 14 scoreclocks. If you (businesses) are interested in doing both, prices are listed below.

All money must accompany your ad in order for it to be placed in the book.

MEMORIAL PAGE

Each year we have a few wrestling friends that leave us and pass on to a more peaceful world. If you would like to remember a wrestler, coach, or club supporter from your club who has passed away this past year, we would like to publish a photo, along with your club name, and some general information about this person. There will be no charge for this!

DEADLINE

We must receive the information for the program book no later than March 3 to be able to include it in the 2008 program book. When you have your ad information complete, please mail it along with your check, made payable to USAW - Kansas Kids Wrestling to:
