Kansas Metro Classis - 01/18/07 01:42 AM

What are some predictions on the line up for the Kansas Side?

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/18/07 02:01 AM

This isn't some sort of face-off between metro-sexuals is it? Cause I don't want any part of that. No sir.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/18/07 03:00 AM

Ely, Hansen, Goodwin, Walker, Almageur, Sommers, Kramer, Mamie, Skyler Scott, Blane Williams, Hammer, Keaton Taylor, James Landry. I Guess out of these names you can make a decent line up, remember you get like 7 pounds so ely might just go 125.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/18/07 03:03 AM

almaguer 135
ely 130
hansen 119...those 3 should def be there if they want the spot.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/18/07 06:33 AM

Pretty much everyone will be down one weight from the one they usually wrestle, and some maybe two. Don't forget about Nill and Millstead; there should be quite a few Aquinas kids this year!

Possible MO team:

130 - Scott O'Donnell
140 - Aaron Senzee
145 - Shane Nay
215 - Deron Winn
285 - Dom Bradley

Not sure I agree with Hammer over Keith Curtis (assuming you're placing him at 215). Keith's been stepping it up this year and won by fall over Hammer at the JCC. However, they will hopefully get a rematch this weekend!

Donte, KC, Tommy St Louis won't be on the MO Team because they are out of the Metro area.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 02:38 AM

Pyle from Sabetha should be considered in the running at 145, for Kansas. 2x State champ and 13-0 right now heading into Beloit. Although I have to wonder if we are not out of range, but I believe his brother wrestled for Kansas in 2002?

so what do you guys think? KS got a good shot at repeating as metro classic champs?
Posted By: Chief Renegade

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 03:43 AM

It's early, but a guess would be MO wins at 145, 215 and 285. KS wins at 119, 130 and 135. Can't wait till March!

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 04:34 AM

Is it too early to start salivating?

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 08:58 AM

If it's any more exciting than last year then I'm already salivating!

I think the Ely/O'Donnell match will be interesting

125 Jake Denson Liberty (#6 Class 4 MO)

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 01:42 PM

There has been more than one wrestler in a few weight classes in past years, so there is a good possibility that Hammer, Curtis and Payne will all be able to wrestle in this event.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 02:08 PM

I'd like to see Nill wrestle Burke again, wasn't that a 1-point match at Leavenworth?

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/19/07 04:46 PM

Scotty O'Donnell is going to Virginia
Shane Nay to Oregon State

Don't know the details, but that is surprising....

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/21/07 04:57 PM

He has had some academic barriers and has a former teammate wrestling there as well. It may be the fastest track for him to get to D1--for which he definitely has the potential.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/21/07 05:32 PM

Deron Winn pinned Kolton Kono of Oak Park yesterday in the championship of 215 championship match at the Winnetonka Invitational in 3:38 as reported by the Kansas City Star this morning. That is pretty impressive because Kono is a very good wrestler. Will Winn wrestle 197 or heavyweight in college?

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/21/07 07:28 PM

I would assume that he cuts even lower, given his short stature.
Posted By: Chief Renegade

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/22/07 03:20 AM

Most likely 184 for Winn.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/22/07 03:22 AM

who decides who wrestles in it anyways.

Re: Kansas Metro Classis - 01/31/07 01:21 PM

Grape from Lansing returns this week....a 3 time state medalist, 4th, 1st and 2nd. Buehler is a 2 time medalist and state champ and he has beat Somers twice and Scott too this year. Add the Lansing Seniors to this list. Agree with Ely, Hansen and Mamie.
