I also was having issues. I could not use the link on the left so there was a link on the middle of the home page that opened it. I know 103 was shook up after Derby Turn.

Watch out for Zane Wickham of Hays at 145 he has beat rodriguez of ulysses down in liberal and Wuthnow of abilene hes a tough wrestler.

Zane is tough but he wrestled Colten Picking from Abilene.

Liberal may move up in the 5A team rankings after the Newton tournament finish.

that isnt accurate colby is first in 5A rankings

This will be a very good and competitive weight class at 5A State this year. Our Aquinas 103 Tommy Williams is a very good 103 taking 3rd at the Bobcat last weekend and he is not even ranked in the top six right now. I am not questioning the rankings by making that comment. I am just saying this is going to be a tough bracket at State. Seybold and Pursel were the Bobcat finalists and they are only ranked 3rd and 4th so that shows you how tough this weight class is in 5A this year.

103 5a is very deep as you say Vince. I do believe the rankings are accurate. Kmiec has some losses but beat Seybold head to head. Seybold beat Pursel head to head, and Watters has beat Kmiec and Seybold (and also Windham 2x). There are several others like Tommy, Stahl, Dean, Thomas, Dryden, etc. that are very tough as well. The rest of the year will be fun. Watters has to be the clear favorite. He is bigger and quite honestly better at this point. I would say Kmiec has the ability to pin anyone, as does Seybold. Those three have that better/bigger combo going. With a 9 pound jump to 112 size plays a part in this weight class perhaps more than many others, except 285. The second weigh in Friday will also have some bearing in some outcomes at state. Not to take away anything from anybody because they are all extremely good wrestlers. Bo and several others have their strengths as well, but have to figure out a way to get past these 3 at this point I believe. Good luck to all of them. (just a little more luck to Bo however...Ha, Ha).

I wanted to plug a kid who is up and coming this year at Heavy Weight from Great Bend, Austin Edwards who at this time I believe is 17-4. He missed a few tournaments and 3 of his losses came very early in the season. In his last 10 matches 9 have come by way of winning with a pin with most these being in the first period. This weekend at Garden who most agree is the tuffest tournament this year, he should make some noise. He is a very solid Heavy Weight and is pouring it on when it counts the most - the end of the season.

I watched Edwards at Paola and he looked very impressive not as big as most heavy weights but still looked very good

I like checking the rankings. I just sent some information to some college coaches last week on a few Kansas kids. I did not realize they were doing this on a weekly basis. Lots of research - many many hours, guys sick, guys dropping a weight,
guy who beat a guy who beat a guy who beat the other guy by a certain score - I think every week is overkill. I am still trying to figure out the true value of rankings. The biggest thing it helps kids get on the radar screen for college recruiters and useful for seeding meetings at regionals. It helps the high school coaches in trying to figure out who gets to state and what place the team COULD finish. I still think every week is to much.

The kansaswrestling.org site indicates they will be updated every wens. They set the expectation.

The rankings ARE a lot of work. I applaud the KWCA for making the rankings uniform in their format and reporting them to the various news outlets. I believe this was a critical step to advance our sport. I actually like the once a week updates. Many times during the week there are duals or omissions that should be corrected and making the updates less frequent would harm the process. My goal is to update the 6A rankings by Tuesday of each week.

My All-Class rankings are updated as needed when new information comes in. I also forward these rankings to WUSA Magazine and update the Kansas page to promote our state wrestlers, as the State Editor for that publication.

Any chance we can get to put our best foot forward to advance the cause of Kansas Wrestling has the potential to open doors for our student-athletes.
