Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/29/12 08:27 PM

That is an awesome and challenging start to the season, to say the least. Good luck to Zac the rest of the year and hope he gets his chance at a four year sweep of the championship.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/29/12 09:04 PM

So Heights, Central, Derby and Goddard in one pool. Who Else is in that pool?

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/29/12 09:08 PM

The 1985 Bears and a fleet of Mac Trucks.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/29/12 09:13 PM

think those two would still place 5th and 6th in that pool

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/30/12 03:03 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if the home team wasn't the only one in the other pool. A one team pool would be fair wouldn't it?

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/30/12 03:26 PM

Come on now Jerry every year before this tourny someone is on here crying about the pools and every year Coach Shelton does it the same, bigger schools in one pool smaller school in the other. Good luck this weekend, we will be at Hillsboro Takedown Tourny with the little ones so we will miss it.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/30/12 03:41 PM

If that's the theory then wouldn't Clay Center been in opposite pool of Derby, Heights, Andover Central last year. Just a thought.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 11/30/12 03:53 PM

Don't remember who was in the pools last year but there is going to be one smaller school in their with the big schools because most of them are smaller. Again good luck to Jared this weekend hopefully the wife will let me stop by there on the way home from Hillsboro I guess I could always make her drive seperate. Haha now that is funny.

Now that is rich.
That just cracked me up and I about rolled out of my chair and hit my head.
And no surprise on the pool misbalance. Classic VC rig.

So you've got Derby, Andover Central, Goddard and Heights in one pool and in the other you have VC and Emporia, hum. VC could be in the finals. Classic. I guess when you host a tournament, there should be some perks.

I know, just go wrestle. Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, let's not seed tournaments anymore either, especially regional. If you are going to screw people, it might as well be out of a place at state.

It's my understanding that is exactly why CC is not at VC this year.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/01/12 01:26 AM

You are funny XGHSSEHSWC lay off the coffee. And yes just go wrestle don't whine about it and the hell with seeding if you are good enough you will pull through if not you had a bad day or it was the reffs fault...HAHA I love excuses...Blah, Blah, Blah

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/01/12 04:11 AM

Ouch Molloy, that hurt.
I guess you and Shelton are tighter than I knew since you feel compelled to defend something.

And no, it was never our understanding that it was "small" pool/"big" pool. Why would you do that anyway if you are wrestling for placements that are published in the paper. Obviously you are wrong about that because Douglas is in the wrong pool, the pool CC was in last year. If it don't matter, I've got a great idea. Put Douglas in the "small" purple pool where they belong by your reasoning and put VC in the gold pool with Derby, Andover Central, Goddard and Heights. That would be fun to see. And I don't remember anyone making any excuses. What would we be making excuses about anyway, nothing has happened yet. Just the facts Jeremy. Is that too difficult to get?

Of course I have my elixir of life by my side right now thank you, never don't and never won't.

But please man, if you are going to try to be funny and mess my moniker, than get it right.
It's XSHSGHSGHSSEHSWC.

And I am giving you the big thumbs down and stuck out tongue right now because you insulted me with your slanderous comment.
But it's all good as I expected no less. Of course you know that I was expecting some sort of admonishment. Thanks for coming through.

But have a great day tomorrow anyway Jeremy as you know I have always been a Derby supporter but apparently I may have to discontinue that because it is obviously not appreciated.

But have a great day anyway!

Coach after seeing Douglass in the "Big Pool" I am not sure what is going on up there in Valley and I just like getting you and Jerry's blood pressure up you two make me laugh and you have a great day also, enjoy the season.

so Valley beats Derby for the championship 36-35. guess the pissing and moaning will be Derby gone worn down by the tough pool?

There is one mistake that I know of in the Emporia v Andover Central dual. Dakota Rodd pinned Dillard of Emporia at 106. It shows the opposite incorrectly.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 04:07 AM

For two years now this event certainly appeared to be not evenly distributed. I think it is worth mentioning that when you put all of the tough dogs into the same pool they beat each other up. How many kids had to miss there final match of the day? I like the idea of lots of matches but I would like to see the pools distributed based on ALL CLASS rankings or even by a vote of the participating coaches. There isn't much transparency to the process at this point in time. Just my opinion. Perceptions can be more powerful than reality...
Posted By: cps51

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 12:38 PM

The reality is that the Gold pool won three of the four final duals. I don't think there was considerable attrition through out the day. On the first weekend of December those teams were better. Don't think anybody has all their wrestlers in the right spot. I am sure things will change throughout the year.
Guess we will get a better feel for that over the next couple of weeks. Valley has duals with Goddard this week and Andover Central next week. Both of those should be good matchups. VC goes to Colby this weekend. I maybe wrong, but I don't think Shelton has anything to do with the pools there.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 01:42 PM

The whining on these boards is officially at an all time high. It is ok to wrestle more than 1 tough match in a day. Doesn't hurt anybody.

At a quick glance. Looked like AC and Goddard was the only close dual in the Gold Pool. Doesn't seem like they were back and forth or beating each other up like people may think.

Seeding off the Un-Official All Class Rankings do not make sense in a dual tournament. The Rankings are based off individual tournament predictions. Un-official All Class rankings were obviously way off as Valley Center was un-officially under ranked.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 02:07 PM

It shouldn't matter what team was in what pool, the best team won, because the best team beat every team they faced under any circumstance. It shouldn't matter if you are in a weak pool because you are going to end up wrestling the best team in the "stacked" pool if you keep winning.

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 02:28 PM

Valley Center is at the Colby Dual Tournament this week. Will there be complaining that no Colorado teams are in their pool, yet the 2 other pools have 2 each? Wonder if a good showing there will negate criticism? If someone can pull up their pool, what are your predictions for them in it?
Posted By: XGHSWC

Re: Valley Center Duals - 12/04/12 07:53 PM

I certainly wouldn't say the whining is at an all time high or even anywhere close. And it is certainly not official. It is actually just getting started and is not even close to some type of climax which will undoubtedly culminate at the end of the season with the yearly complaining about the losing records at state and the unfair 4A/3A regional brackets, etc., etc. People make too big of a deal over the "whining" anyway. Its all just fun and kicks and grins, etc. anyway except for when some people get too serious and start whining about the "whining".

Additionally, the "Un-official" All Class rankings comment is junk because the All-Class rankings are the most accurate thing we have, guarantee that and they are very accurate based on what has transpired. Just because VC was not previously ranked in the top 10 does not mean they are not valid or "way off" as stated. The All-Class team rankings as you know are based on how they would be predicted to finish at state according to number of individual placers. Maybe it just says that VC had some individual "sleepers" that were not factored at the time. No surprise there, they usually do. Although VC is always good, we will see how good they really are as the season progresses.

But for now, once again, congratulations to Shelton and the VC wrestlers for a great victory!

Seeding never matters for the clear #1's. It's the 2's and 3's it matters for.
