The coaches are selected by the Junior and Cadet Directors. With Richard Fergola accepting a coaching position in Nebraska, the Cadet Director position is open in 2005. There will be an election at the state tournament in Junction City on June 5, immediately prior to the start of freestyle competition.

At the present time, I'm expecting that Mike Garcia will continue in 2005 as the Junior Director.

Coach Peterman:
That is great that we have people trying to step up for our kids. Do you know anyone else that may also be running for the spot?

Re: 2005 Fargo Coaches - 04/21/04 02:09 PM

I do not know if any body else is running for the position. A couple of informational notes about myself.

1. I will not be at the State tournament unfortunately in June. I will be in Florida with my wife and step son. My step son leaves for the Persian Gulf on the USS Roosevelt destroyer on the 7th that Monday and we are going to visit him that week before. It has been a long time since I've missed a Freestyle/Greco State tournament but with the war and everything family will have to come first.

2. I would be willing to share the position with someone like Kit and Richard did. Being on the staff for the last two years I have watched the work that needs to be done to do the job properly. It is no easy task. Many things to do from oganizing practices at the camp and the tournament, going to meetings and filling out paperwork to making tough decisions on discipline and other matters. (that's just the tip of it)

I feel I could do the job by myself, I just want to do what would be best for the Kansas Cadet National Team. We have had alot of success lately and I just want to make sure that keeps getting better and going strong.

3. If made the Director, as for the staff, I would keep it close to the same if all parties are willing. I would also like to add or have an at-large staff member each year to be picked after we find out who the team will consists of. This would be mainly to give the posibility of a local coach who has a large number of kids on the team help with the input to prepare the kids for the national tournaments; duals or Fargo. I would use the existing staff to make a committee decision on the coach.

3. Last, I would hope to work with Richard this year to help learn the full responsibilities, asked questions from Mike Garcia, Richard Frakes, and other past directors for input to keep the success growing.

Finally, the way I look at it. If I get voted in from unfortunately not being there, I take it that my Kansas Wrestling family wants me to help lead them in positive manner and I will work my hardest to make them proud. If not, I will be very happy to just be on the staff, helping in any capacity, making Kansas Cadets better wrestlers and youngmen.

I will give Coach Peterman a vote of confidence! Having been able to get to know him over the last few years, I have been very impressed with his knowledge of the sport and coaching skill. He has been a large part of the cadet success the past couple of years. If elected, I think he will do a great job. He's good people!

I want to Thank you all for your vote of confidence. I love the sport of wrestling. I feel a true tie to the state of Kansas. Growing up in Salina, going to college in Garden City, and now living in Kansas City area, I feel connected to a big part of Kansas.
Though we battle each other during our state level competitions, I love the way we group together and battle the nation. I guess, I just can't help it. I'm **** proud to be a Kansan. Wrestling is just a tool I use to express it.

Thanks again, and hope to see some of you this weekend at Olathe Northwest. Greco/Freestyle tournament, should be a good and big one. Those of you down in Chanute good luck also.

Contact Mike Juby from the USAWKS.com web site. Let him know what level Junior, Cadet, or kids you would like to coach. You must also be a Bronze level coach.
