Although these aren't a new idea I have notcied that there are a number of these novice tournaments sprouting up around the state. When I was in Kids wrestling many years ago there weren't any here in Kansas. I've had the pleasure of officiating a few of them, and I'm actually quite impressed. The overall sense of fun and accomplishment amoung the kids is higher than at normal tournaments where parents put so much pressure on their kids.

I personally would like to see even more of these tournaments around the state. Obviously some people aren't willing to give up their Sundays, but the way I look at it, its only 1 weekend a year. Most clubs have an open tourny on Saturday and then a Novice the next day.
