The weigh-in seems to be set-up, so that boys in HIGH School Football will have a hard time getting there on time.

Looks like they are trying to ensure a Friday night stay-over for as many as possible. In the process they are eliminating any football players outside the KC metro area, as you said.

It’s a week earlier than the last few years, so I don’t know how that will affect the football players also. It seems to be about the same format for the weigh-ins. We pre-registered last year, went up Saturday morning & had no problems. It will be a few hours drive farther this year being in the KC area. So it might require an over night or you will have to leave at 2am to get there for weigh-in."YIKES"

It is being done this way in hopes of avoiding the hour or two delay at the start of the tournament that we have had in the past few years. Anyone is welcome to weigh in on Saturday morning, all they have to do is pre-register on line. There is no way to do registration on Saturday morning and expect the tournament to start on time. It is a week earlier because the 28th is a national ACT test date. If you register on-line and you can weigh in Saturday morning, but there is no registration Saturday.

Perhaps next year they could extend that Saturday weigh-in for pre-registered entries. That way the kids involved in fall sports outside the metro area might be able to enter.

You CAN weigh-in on Saturday from 7:00 to 7:30 am as long as you ARE pre-registered. Go to http://www.fallbrawl.bluechipathletic.com then click "Register" Fill in the information and send it. Then you can show up Saturday morning for weigh-in, you DO NOT have to weigh-in on Friday if you have registered on-line.

If open to it, I would be glad to get something set up for a Wichita area weigh in. I know this really helps when we can do it.

That following weekend is Super 32 if anybody that is wanting to wrestle that doesn't have other restrictions would like to go to. It is in North Carolina and registration is opening up soon. I think a handful of wrestlers (predominantly smaller guys due to football) have shown interest in this event as well). Both tournaments would be a great way to get in and adapt to new rules too for the upcomming year.

Swayz we are still strongly considering both tournaments, obviously some cost is a factor there. Everyone should be reminded that I think for the last 2 years Super 32 had to close registration down early due to the number of wrestlers at their tournament. Thankfully this year, we have the option of taking our HS wrestlers to both tournaments, last year that was not an option. Super 32 and Fall Brawl are 2 national level tournaments that if doing well at both you will defintely get your name out there. I would also challenge that unless going to win, or place high at Super 32 it may be too expensive.
I have some things I can do to help out with cost if going, I think Swayz knows even more about that than I do. If interested in Super 32 let me know, now on this note Ibuckwho can check your email or pm's.
I have been getting some emails about the Wizzers. I hope to get with Mel Miller this week among others to locate a practice facility and get things going right away for practices. The hope is that we can get this done in the Wichita area, by the 2nd week in September.
I have had some emails regarding the schedule, the most recent one from Rob Downs reminds me of the need to post the schedule for the Wizzers. There may be other tournaments we look at. If anyone is aware of any preseason tournaments please post or let me know, especially if in Kansas. I presently have the following scheduled.
Park City Fall Brawl October 21st Super 32 North Carolina October 28 Union, Takedown, November 4 Catoosa, November 10 Broken Arrow November 11
The last 2 tournaments Catoosa and Broken Arrow are killer tournaments, it is possible that a Oklahoma Division 5 wrestler, (Jr High age, up to 15 possibly 16 generally) can get in 20+ matches in 2 days. Don't believe me, ask some of those that went last year, some got in upwards of 28 matches.

Both tournaments have a HS or D6 division which included all ages of HS wrestlers. Best I can do for now, as I hear more, I'll let folks know.

Scott, we haven't looked at that tournament but will, thanks for the info. I am willing to speak to everyone, but if the Catoosa tournament is on the same day as last year, it is just that the tournament saved a night in a hotel, plus the additional time to get to the Broken Arrow tournament the next day. Last year the tournament at OSU was with a kids tournament, while Catoosa was strictly a D5 and D6 tournament.

How is the turnout and level of competition for the highschool divisions at the Catoosa and Broken Arrow tournaments. It seems like for an out towner wanting to get plenty of mat time in a short time period it may be worth going to. How was the turnout last year at the highschool division and level of competition?

I think there were fifteen of us that went as a Kansas group, and another five or six individually. Good competition, moreover it's a real test of endurance. Especially if you enter two age groups...Mike's earlier post is very accurate (15-20 matches, 7pm Fri to 1pm Sat).

What are the weight classes for the Catoosa and Broken Arrow tournaments. Actually, just Broken Arrow. I saw Catoosa is hs weights plus 5 pounds. For example, 103 is 108. How about Broken Arrow. What time is weigh-ins on Sat. and at what time does wrestling start. Any links with tournament info. would be greatly appreciated.
How many kids can one expect at the HS division at the 103 and 112 pound weight class in each of those tournaments.
