Legendary coach and wrestler Dan Gable will be at CCC on Oct. 17
The Colby Community College wrestling team and Head Coach Steve Lampe have announced that Dan Gable, Olympic Gold Medalist in wrestling and 15-time national champion coach, will speak at the annual Wrestling Banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Details regarding location and time will be announced later this month. Everyone is encouraged to attend this event featuring Dan Gable and the CCC wrestling squad.

Gable's success as an athlete and coach is a direct result of his dedication and ability to get the very most out of himself and others. Gable is a renowned speaker on the topics of overcoming adversity, team building, performance enhancement and motivation. He has spoken to diverse audiences, ranging from high school students to Fortune 500 executives.
Gable's speaking style is dynamic and entertaining. He relates his life experiences and gives his formula for success which his listeners can apply in their everyday lives.
Gable is considered one of wrestling’s most prominent figures and spokesman. During his prep and collegiate career, Gable compiled an outstanding 118-1 record, with his only defeat coming in the NCAA finals of his senior year.
In 1972, Gable captured the gold medal at the Summer Olympics without surrendering a single point to any opponent. In Gable’s final 21 Olympic matches, he registered 12 falls and outscored the remaining nine opponents, 130-1.
Gable joined the University of Iowa coaching staff in 1972 as an assistant coach and took over the program in 1977. He remained as the head coach until 1997. In that span, Gable captured 15 National Championships, compiled a career record of 355-21-5, coached 152 All-Americans, 45 National Champions.
The Hawkeyes won 25 consecutive Big Ten Championships, 21 with Gable as the Head Coach.
Gable was named to the U.S.A. Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1980, and to the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1985. He was selected the nation's outstanding wrestler by the AAU in 1970, and the U.S. Wrestling Federation in 1971. Gable was the Amateur Wrestling News Man of the Year in 1970.
