I am having trouble with my highschool wrestlers wanting to listen to gangster music in the room while practice.
I need to compile a list of about 25-30 songs to for my kids to listen to. Can you give me a list of as many songs (besides Eye of the Tiger..played out!) that you work out to.

I will need artist also. Thank you

If by Gangster music you mean rap I don't see a problem unless gangs are a problem at your school... some rock songs I'd say are:

Janie's Got a Gun
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor
Dragula

To Name a few

No, I have no problem with Certain Rap music. I like it myself. But you and I both know that it can go overboard and I can't and dont want to play it in my practice room. Have a great day.

"Till I Collapse" by Eminem with Nate Dogg... good rap with pumped up beat.

By the way, Sweazy, next time remember to sign out on a public computer.

Aren't you a big fan of Rocky Top Tennessee? Why don't you put that on your workout tape?

LOL...wow, I haven't been on a public computer in over a month...I'm a graduate now. I was like what rap song did I suggest? I must not be down with the Ark Chizzizzle music like brother Bain...lol.

I'm more old school with rap songs like:

Don't Call it a Comeback by LL Cool J

for more rock I think the following are good:

Angels Deserve to Die by System of a Down

We're Not gonna Take it by Twisted Sister

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne ....I'll have to figure some more out later...

I also heard you have an excellent version of Chatahoochie by Alan Jackson. I here its legendary at The Golden Q. Maybe you could record it for a workout tape.

Just as long as you dont play the entire first Linkin Park CD over and over again ala Beloit tourney.

Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

I personally would not recommend any type of music that is filled with bad messages or bad language. There is plenty of good motivational music out there without having to listen to some of what a few of you have promoted. We are dealing with highly impressionable young men and I just dont think that certain songs are needed to get pumped up. Sorry, nothing against rap, but for the most part, and note that I said most, not all, it has bad messages and language. Most of you are aware, junk in, junk out. That may be a little old fashioned for some of you, but I think you will have to agree with the fact that some of this music is down right bad. THanks Cliff

Interesting topic, for the positive messages a lot out there, I do agree with the need to be careful with language, impressions from music and all. It is good to make your own CD for this purpose. P.O.D. and T-Bone come to mind, P.O.D. for the hard core and T-Bone for the Rap with a street edge. I also enjoy a lot of the oldies like old Aerosmith, Nazareth, Fog Hat etc. A good mix keeps everyone happy, except for extreme country don't know about that, nothing against the music, just don't have the right beats. Even classical for cool downs is okay. With a little work it would be easy to find a good workout selection that drives the workout room. I have finally found a lineup that helps my workouts at the gym and have kept it for several months now without changing it.

I dunno if techno would go over very well but I works for us. It seems to make me wanna go faster. Punk rock stuff like Green Day seems to work good in the wrestling room. Our coach throws in some old monk stuff when we cool down. I'm A Playa by TechN9ne is pretty good and so is Sleep Now in the Fire by Rage against the machine

I find it pretty weird that not one person metioned "OLD" Metallica songs such as: Blackened, Shortest Straw, Enter Sandman, One, etc. none of that new stuff they put out now though. Also Lunatic Fringe is a great song as suggested before. Rage Against the Machine is good and so is Audioslave and old Soundgarden is always good. When I attended FHSU we would make tapes to play during live wrestling and I always enjoyed making them and so did my temamates. Music is the greatest motivator and even now where I am an assistant coach we liestne to music. Rap, but the wrestlters must make the tape and they have to be edited, everyone knows Walmart edits their CDs!
