Team Kansas lost a close dual to Illinois, 31-30. Although the loss was disappointing, they still advance to the final pool of 8 teams, all of whom will start fresh with 0-0 records.

In regards to the injuries and defaults, towards the end of the freestyle part of the tournament, these boys had had a long week of wrestling. This type of dual team tournaments are very grueling on the wrestlers. If the boys competed in both greco and freestyle, the majority of them wrestled 15+ matches. A lot of them wrestled both greco and freestyle without any back-ups in their weights. Therefore, some of them had to set out a match or two just to give their bodies some time to heal and rest. There were sore muscles, groin pulls, shoulder injuries, and just plain tired bodies. Yes, we had a few who just wrestled freestyle, but even their bodies were in need of some rest time. If not for all the injurie and pain, I believe they could have even placed higher.
Team Kansas should be congratulated on placing in both Greco & Freestyle. They competed and placed with some of the nations best this weekend. Great job Kansas - we are proud of you!! Keep working and improving as Fargo is in a few weeks!! If these boys continue, they should have a great team for the 2005 team!
A big thank you to the coaches who gave up their time to coach these young men. Also to the parents who were in Enid, thanks for supporting ALL the boys.
