Thank you to the people in McPherson and the Edisons for hosting the USAW Girls State Tourney! The facility was first rate, we had some good matches, and the refs were first class! Our girls had a really good time. The Ottesen family
It was a great day and the MAC people are awesome. They already have the results ready and we will post soon. I vote we offer this tourney to them next year and maybe add some more bells and whistles. What do you girls think?
We also thank McPherson and the Edison's for hosting the Girl's State Championships!!! I just wish more of the older girls would've shown up. If we want girls wrestling to be taken serious we need to have every girl that wrestles to be there supporting events such as this one. It may be a hardship but so was it for the women before us that allowed us to compete in all sports. I would like to be able to see in the next couple of years the KSHSAA sponsoring a girls state wrestling tournament. The first few years have all classes wrestle together and then as more girls wrestle start dividing it up by classes. That is how they started all sports in the beginning and when they added girls pole vault it was one class combined. I don't know if we could ever get to the point of having schools with both boys and girls wrestling programs. But, to allow at the end of the season or maybe an invitational tournament at some point in the season that would be considered "State" would be awsome.
