On Friday afternoon during the Kids State Tournament, someone removed (stole) from the Head Table a young wrestler's portable DVD player in a black case and with "The Rookie" DVD in it. However, they did not take the battery charger, but did manage to unhook the headphones.

If you find that you have a portable DVD player that you did not purchase yourself, please contact us. There is a way to identify that it belongs to us.

To the person who took it - I hope you enjoy it because it really caused this young man, who is also a wrestler, a lot of tears!!

Yes, Gavin and I learned a lesson that you cannot trust people in this world and we will have to guard whatever we have at the Head Table during the Kids State Tournament with our lives!!

Next time you ask to walk through to the other side and we tell you no, I hope you will understand why!

Also, there is a $50 reward if someone is honest enough to get it back to us or you can just return it to us (no questions will be asked) to Gavin Grater, 2318 Utah Road, Green, KS 67447.

It not only happened there it happened at Sub-Districts in Lindsburg. There was a drawing for a PS2 and several other things but to make a long story short they had to buy another one because someone walked off with it before the drawing even took place. This is sad and the saddest thing about it all is I know myself I try to teach my children right from wrong and had one of them took it you can bet me they would of returned it and did whatever was asked of them. However there are several people out there that don't do that and that is Sad.

Sorry to hear this. We too had a camcorder and camera stolen last year from our van while at the state tourney. We were able to replace the camcorder and the camera but we will never be able to replace the tapes and pictures taken of our sons post season matches. Its too bad there are people out there that do not respect other peoples property. Good luck on finding the DVD.

I will personally slam the person who took it like I supposedly did to Akin in the exhibition if I find out who it is!

This is horrible. We had a camera stolen from the hotel pool last year and it is the pictures that we will never be able to replace. For Gavin's DVD player it is the trust that may never be replaced. This is unbelievable given how much the Grater's do to make State weekend possible for all of us. I certainly hope someone steps up and returns this!

I know this isn't the first time this year something screwy has happened. At the Derby Tournament earlier in the year a table was set up to raise funds for Tyler Graebner's medical expenses and some kid swipped a Gameboy system from the table that was being auctioned off. I think if they catch a kid doing this they should be banned from USA Wrestling for a year!

Its unfortunate that these things happened. I also know that over 20 people had their vehicles robbed while in Topeka for State. I know there were 6 vehicles robbed at our hotel, because ours was one of them. The people at the hotel said police stated there were over 20 thefts reported and that the thefts weren't important enough to respond to. Thats how we started our Friday morning. Sorry your experience was the same.
