Hastings is in an excellent location too in terms of wrestlnig growth as it is between York and UNK just slightly south of I-80. With the addition of that program the GPAC (Naia conference)will have 7 of 13 teams with wrestling which makes it one of the larges (if not the largest) non D1 conferences for wrestling.

I sent their President a thank you note yesterday.
They are less than five hours from Kansas City according to a map search that I did yesterday.

Yea it takes me about 5 hours from Topeka to UNK (Kearney). Hastings will be a good spot for a wrestling program. Its always great news to hear of gaining a program rather then cutting one!

11/2/2006 10:19:00 PM
Hastings College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Head Wrestling Coach. This is a nine month, non-tenure position.
A Master’s Degree is preferred, but not required as well as successful coaching, teaching and recruiting experience. A general knowledge of NAIA rules will be beneficial. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to the educational values of sport and to the mission of a private, liberal arts education.
This position, available July 1, 2007, will involve head coaching responsibilities, recruiting and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Founded in 1882, Hastings College is an independent co-educational, Presbyterian-related liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1,137 students. The student/faculty ratio is 12/1. The median ACT composite score of entering students is 24. The college operates on a 4-1-4 calendar with a January Interim term.
Hastings (population 24,064) is an attractive residential community in South-Central Nebraska, 100 miles west of Lincoln and 15 minutes south of Interstate 80. The city enjoys good public schools, offers excellent professional and community services, and serves as a cultural center for the surrounding area.
Letters of application, resume, complete undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and list of references (including name, address and phone numbers) are invited. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2006. Address applications to Mr. Fran Hummel, Athletic Director, Hastings College, 710 North Turner Ave., Hastings, NE 68901.
