Whoah... interesting lineup, with Meish and Watson at 140 and Koerner at 135. Where's Atticus, even though his weight is open, why didn't he take the forfeit?

I like letting a backup take the forfeit...it counts as a varsity win for the kid, and he letters in the process!

It also saves some of those valuable competition points come the end of the season when you might need them

Now that the freshman are up from Junior High our Coach is doing the same thing for 103 and heavyweight. The reason is for saving points for tournaments later in the season.

What was cool about letting Joao take the plea is that he is a foreign exchange student from Brazil and had never wrestled before. He comes into practice everyday and works his butt off. With Jayden Bird at 215 and Atticus at HVY he realistically isn't going to see much varsity time. But he is there everyday working, sweating and getting pummelled simply for the sport. We also have a student from Germany (Kay Schaffer) who is doing the same thing. Not too many kids would do this simply to say they participated. These guys have my admiration.
