Was that really Miller vs. Somers at 140?

Unfortunately that was not the deal… For some reason unknown to me, Somers bumped to 145. I can see no valid reason why he (Somers) would not wrestle Steve. If it was a calculated move on the Free State Coach, then sure he got the win against a better than average young 145 for dual purposes but it’s obvious it didn’t change the outcome (11-3). The real test win or lose would have been to face a like opponent which we would have welcomed as a measuring tool of abilities. To say the least, we were disappointed.

The coach at Free State is always tinkering with the line up. I wouldn't even suggest that Somers didn't want to wrestle Miller. Free State wrestles a tough schedule with Derby then Basehor then BVNW right in a row. Maybe he was having trouble with his weight. I really don't know. All I know for sure is that Mark has never ducked anybody.

Did I some where insinuate that he had ducked or avoided an opponent? All I said was that it was unfortunate that the match didn’t happen!

I apologize. When you said you could see no valid reason for him not to wrestle Steven, I took it wrong. Again I apologize.

With Somers beating Buehler and Koehn 8-1 at Basehor, this kid is on a roll. If you haven't seen his shots, it sure is fun to watch.

There is no need for apologies Brandon… Like most, top shelf wrestlers always want to see the best in their class. For example Issenberg/Arnold. Everyone should always rise to a challenge and embrace tougher competition. So for Steve (mostly his Dad) not to see the best Lawrence had to offer or maybe the state for that matter at 6A was a disappointment.

Red,
Though I think Somers is an excellent wrestler, Hogan destroyed him at Gardner. I am looking forward to Steve and Josh hooking up again come February.

Klint… I do too look forward to this match up. My only problem is two very good wrestlers are going to beat each other up before state. Same league and same regional.

Has Hogan wrestled Buehler or Koehn this year? When Buehler went 41-1 last year and beat Tyler Koehn and Millstead, Somers beating Buehler last week told me that on any given day, Somers can beat you.

Last years 125 bracket at State was a prime example when Servin beat Hogan 10-1, lost in the semis, ending up losing to Tanenbaum for 5th/6th after Tanenbaum got pinned by Hogan. Servin finished 6th to Hogan's 4th.

Not when they were at the same tournament @ emporia Means beat Hogan in the Semis in an overtime match 10-8 and then beat Buehler 3-0 in the finals. Then @ Derby Means lost to Koehn can't remeber the score. think 7 or 9-3 MEans took 5th @ Derby Sommers took 3rd They did not wrest each other

Hogan had an injury against Means at emporia, it was a good match but not reflective of Josh's best effort at all. There were other issues in the match as well, but Means is a quality kid no doubt.

I am a big fan of ALL the kids mentioned. If Somers wants a shot at Hogan again, we dual in February. Josh and Miller will hook up at League and Regionals.

Last year at the state tourney, after the Servin match-Hogan pinned his way through the back side until he wrestled Shumate.

Buehler and Hogan have never wrestled--Josh wrestled Koehn at kids last year, lost to him at District but beat him at State.

Sounds like Somers, Hogan, Koehn, Buehler and Miller would make a great round robin!

Thanks for the clear up good luck this year. Sommers and Means are in the Finals @ BVNW should be a good matchup.
