Well here we are just 4 days away from Regionals and Mother Nature decides to drop a bunch of snow on top of us. Although the kids appreciate the time off(as do I) it still sucks! I tell my wrestlers to make sure and do something on their day off, shovel some snow, run on a treadmill, do some pushups, but under no circumstances go sleding...I can just see the cast in my dreams and begin to scream! Best of Luck to all that get tomorrow off, and even to those that are lucky enough, yes LUCKY, to have school and practice! Coach Brown

That reminds me of my sophomore year. 3 of us qualified for state, our 119 pounder and 130 pounder and me, our 140 pounder. Well the lighter 2 decided to go canoeing, in the snow, being pulled by a 4 wheeler. They lost control and hit a stop sign. Our 130 pounder broke his arm and our 119 pounder hurt his leg but still wrestled. The 130 pounder was out for state, and as fate would have it, so were 2 of the others just in his quarter of the state bracket. So the one kid remaining had an automatic place. I think he took fifth or so.

In Olathe, not only do they have a snow day today...they are out of school on Thursday and Friday for parent teacher conferences! I believe they can still practice then though.....

I'm finding it tough but I can tolerate missing practice today. But I'm in a quandry on what to do if school is cancelled tomorrow!!

At our school, the biggest thing that is hurting our team is all of the sickness (flu, colds and mono) that is going around. I actually like the extra day to sleep in. Hopefully, it will keep our kids healthy and well.

... yes, we are battling that too! In fact, I've been a bit under the weather myself.
Also of consideration for me, is what wrestler will come back to school banged up from a Winter mishap?

I'm with Coach Brown on this one. Back in the day, as soon as we heard school was cancelled we'd start calling around and getting fellow wrestlers lined up to go scoop snow. Not only did we get a workout in (and lost alot of weight) but we also made some much needed money.
Our town was really big into wrestling so alot of people would wait on us to come around because they felt as though they were supporting us that way. 4 or 5 wrestlers in a truck can whip out quite a few walks/drives by noon. We were rolling in it!!

This is a problem that the 3a and 4a schools have that the 5 and 6a really don't, unless it comes down to travel for them as well.

Ok so we were out again today, we had meetings for the teachers at 1pm and I was hoping they would say it is ok to practice but alas, I was wrong. Having most of my wrestlers live in the country and the road crews here in Sabetha being marginal, it is tough for us. Hope the rest of you got a good day of practice in, hopefully no one will be more than 4 pounds over tomorrow!Nothing like heading into Regionals with only 1 hour of practice so far this week! Needless to say my wife did not have a very "cheerful" Valentines Day, but she was just as upset as me. I knew there was a reason I married a former(not one of mine, we are the same age, and I am from Pratt)manager from Larned! Best of Luck at Regionals to All. Coach Brown

If school is called of on Friday, the school would go IF they could make it there. If there is a safety issue, the team would not travel. Remember that regional start in the PM so the roads could be cleared by that time.
If no one could make it, my guess is the state would postpone a day.
Just a guess.
