Once again the district [i]with by far [i] the biggest population is the last ones to use a computer and give us some long awaited for results! They were also about the last ones to give us the sub entries if you remember correctly! What is up here!?!

Ell,
You have three choices:
1. You can volunteer your time to help!
2. You can sit on your butt, and then complain about our district not doing anything. (kind of hypocritical)
3. You can relax, and wait for whoever is volunteering their time to post results.

Ell & BOO,
My wife and I were 2 of the 15 or more volunteers. We ran all of the top secret information through a shredder. Then we dumped the shredded material in to several different cans. The cans were then carried to several dumpsters along Main Street in Ottawa so the information can not be reassembled. Knowing the trash men come early on Monday morning we had them make a special pick up and take one load to an undisclosed landfill. Each district director (North & South) has a hard copy and the Ottawa tournament director has a copy. They were still calling alternates (after 6 hours of 15 or more volunteers work) when we were done making the brackets and bout sheets. It is not going to change who you wrestle on Saturday whether you know today or Friday night. I guess you can study some film of your possible childs opponents for preparation this week. If your going to bite off the hand of the people that are feeding you I will bite back.

Why should you have to call alternates before posting results? The other districts just posted top 6. And no it doesn't change who you wrestle and yes we might study some of the films during the preperation week. You can call me crazy if you want, but tell me one other sport where the coach does not watch film of past games with the oposing team the week before the big game and figure out stratagy!Or are you saying that wrestling is just a couple of kids rolling around getting points and no stratagy?!? either way why is it that district one is the only district with all of these problems when the other district have less people! And last of all yes send me the paper work and I will get-r-done!

Ottawa is hosting District 1 Championships and the 6 & under Championships back to back. I know it is there choice, But give them a little respect and time to get things posted. A wrestler will not suffer if he/she did not get to see names on sunday but saw them later in the week.
Our sport has more things to worry about than the posting of names.

Ned Price Atchison Kids Wrestling Ned: I am not at all opposed to shutting down the website for a few weeks so all the complaining can stop. Just a few years ago this information was unavailable and we all seemed to survive. The highly paid individuals which assimilate the date should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of effort however BIG KUDOS to all the volunteers who step up and assist in the running of these tournaments.

I don't ever recall anyone asking for volunteers, and by the way, Ell and I would both help if that were the case. I know that Ottawa bit off a big chunk to host both events, but if they are the ones responsible, they sure haven't asked our club for help.

You know I don't care whether or not D1 post their results or not. Like Sean McCarthy said, it isn't going to change who you wrestle. One thing I am sick of is the excuse of "we don't have time", "why don't you volunteer "your" time, we working on a tournament that's more important. This is bull. I've been at our tournaments Friday evening to help move mats, help set up tables, help weigh in's, come in Saturday morning and coach, help run tables and still managed to come home that night and get results done and sent in to Mike Juby by Saturday night-Sunday afternoon. It doesn't take that long to do.
D1, if you don't want to post results, fine, just come out and say we're not posting any results. If you need more time, come out and say we need a little time, please be patient. But don't lash back out with things like we have better things to do,why don't you volunteer your time. There are plenty of people who do volunteer their time and still manage to get the results sent in.

This is my point exactly! I am not trying to bash anyone! I can see that some do not think results are important! Maybe they think of wrestling as a hobby and not a competitive sport! I can guarantee you that there is not a football, basketball, volleyball, or any other team who has the attitude that they don't care who they play the next week, we will just show up and play!Come on here! Even high school wrestling coaches want to know who they are wrestling next!If this is the case why do we have seeding meetings or even compete at a state level? I feel wrestling is a competitive and strategic sport! If I know that next week I will be facing the kid that only throws headlocks maybe I will focus on that at practice this week or if he is the best shooter in the world maybe we should work a little more on sprawling ect! I hope you can see there is reasoning for needing results. It is not just cuz we want them! We are not just complaining to complain!

Boo,
I understand all of your points. But The Leadship of District One is not the one responible for posting the seedings and the results. It is the responsiblity of the host tournament.
Would I like to see then posted as a coach and parent you bet, but I will wait until they get posted and life will be good.
I just object to thought that it is district one who is not posting them cause they don't want anyone to see it. Nothing could be further from the truth.
maybe we should make a change to our by-laws that we just voted on and approved. That if you are going to host subs or districts you must posted everything in 12 hours or less.
Ned

Even high school wrestling coaches want to know who they are wrestling next! Therein lies the problem. Some of us know the difference between high school and youth sports. The problem with your post is the same as in most youth sports, too many "I"s in it.

KVPXYT, Ell and I are from the D1S, why do you think that we are so interested in who is in the north?

SPORTSFAN02, We do have highschoolers involved, so it's not just little kids.

Good point Ell; the forum is for sharing information; actually there are other topics right now as I type getting the information on District 1 north & south from other parents. A pretty good resource if you can't get the info beating the dead horse that is getting beaten on "once again" topic. How did we ever survive in the 80's-90's without knowing instantly who we were going to wrestle next week? Hmmm..... probably the same way we will survive this.
