If you look at the results from Sub's for other districts you 1st place wrestles the other sides 4th place & 2nd place wrestles the other sides 4th.

scratch that last scenario; your 2nd place wrestles the other sides 3rd place finish.

1 vs 4 2 vs 3 3 vs 2 4 vs 1 your first and third place finishers will be on the same side of the bracket along with the second and fourth place finisher from the other sub. the other side of the bracket is the opposite.

I think it would go like this...
N 1st vs. S 4th N Bye vs. S 2nd N 2nd vs. S 3rd N Bye vs. S 1st

That seems a little unfair for the N 1st seed having to wrestle in the first round when the s 1st seed does not.

Were there 5th & 6th from the south, and if so wouldn't they fill the north spots?

It should be: S1 vs bye S3 vs N2 S2 vs bye S4 vs N1 they do not put anyone in place of the other two from the north for districts no matter what. I hope this helps.

I forgot, in District 1 they do fill in sometimes if there are not enough on one side. I do not know why it is different but that is how it has been done. That is why district 1 posts thier sub district results together.

Were there 5th & 6th from the south, and if so wouldn't they fill the north spots? D2 does not do it that way. I have no other explanation other than that, I just know that D2 only allows the top 4 from each sub. Anyone else have information as to the differences in the districts rules?

Since to my knowledge, District 1 is the only one doing it differently I've always figured it was up to them to explain why.

Speaking as a former ptb within District 1 ... it was and is our opinion that we are operating within the guidelines of District 1 and the State.
If D1 is operating outside the rules then the State needs to let us know!

Of course I do! Thankfully that wasn't under my watch.
That was a colossal snafu! But I don't recall exactly what caused it.
