This is an open forum post of thanks to Chuck and Sherri Elvin for all they do. As a two time coach at the NHSCA Wrestling Championship I would like to tell everyone how great a job these two people do. They plan all the flights, hotels accomidations, and make sure that everyone has everthing they need at the event. They do so much for Kansas and help to make a very tough tournament seem like the only thing we as coaches need to worry about and they truly deserve a pat on the back.

I have never met two people who care more about Team Kansas, they do it all. Please post a small response of thanks to both of them and let them know how much we appreciate them, both coaches and wrestlers.

If they ever stop organizing this event for us it will be hard shoes for someone to fill. Let them know how much we apreciate them!

Thanks Chuck and Sherri, you are appreciated!

Sincerely,
Jason C. Brown

p.s. The ocean was awesome and most of us jumped in, a few of us went "skim boarding" and one(myself)will possibly need knee surgery from it. Remember people from a landlocked state should not surf, just run and jump in the ocean!

Chuck and Cherie did a fantastic job. This was my first trip to the National Tournament, and I was very impressed with the organization and how smooth everything went. Getting 70+ people moving all in the same direction can be a lot like herding cats, and they did it very well.

And as for Gary, what can you say besides the fact that he does Norton proud! It was fun to finally get to meet the man behind the legend!

Thanks for all your work!

PS: Sorry I didn't check my ID before we left! I'll get around to getting it fixed sometime this week, or maybe next!

Chuck and Cherie Elvin epitomize what hard work and dedication for administrators and team leaders is all about. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to learn from them and Gary Ulmer. Until you are actually there and see how well they have our state represented and organized compared to the other states, there is really no way to fully appreciate their contribution.

This year in Virginia Beach the NHSCA struggled to put together as good of event as they have provided wrestlers and spectators in the past when I have attended, yet the Elvins and Coach Ulmer held it together well for Team Kansas. Other than the viewing area being sub-par and the finals feeling very sterile, it was difficult to really see all the problems with this tournament. New venue, new state and the tournament still went off without hardly a hitch for our boys.

I strongly recommend to any wrestler who has qualified for this event to start preparing right now. You will have some amazing memories for the rest of your life and will probably walk away with a pretty good financial aid package/scholorship from a school who wants you to wrestle for them.

Also to Kansas Team Coaches, Parents, supporters, and wrestlers... Thank you!
