While small in number – with just 16 participants – there is some high quality in here. Leading the way here is double Cadet National champion Ryan Mango of Missouri. However, he will not go unchallenged, as incoming freshman Hunter Steiber of Ohio headlines the predators.

Twenty-nine wrestlers populate this weight class, and many are seeking to make their first big positive dent into the “high school” wrestling scene. However, the favorite here is not one of those. Jamie Clark of Ohio leads the field here, and is a defending Cadet National and FILA Cadet Freestyle champion. Leading the group of those seeking to make statements is Jesse Thielke of Wisconsin, who has multiple major age-level national titles already.

Forty-five wrestlers form the first of the high volume weights in this tournament full of quality wrestlers. However, the probable favorite here is arguably the nation’s best freshman Logan Steiber of Ohio – a defending Cadet National and FILA Cadet Freestyle champion. Three others to watch are Kyle Dake of New York, Shane Young of Pennsylvania, and Steve Mitcheff of Ohio. All three of these wrestlers have in-season state tournament gold medals from elite wrestling states.

This weight of 45 wrestlers has arguably the second highest quality field composition within the tournament. However, a pair of wrestlers stands out as the likely favorites – Tony Ramos of Illinois and Josh Kindig of Pennsylvania. Also to watch here is Ironman and Beast of the East runner-up Chris Villalonga from New Jersey.
127.75#
The tournament’s most populated weight is here, 58 wrestlers are in the field. Headlining those to watch is a duo of Pennsylvania natives – Colin Johnston and Dylan Alton. Others to watch include Lillashawn Coleman of Illinois, Joe Cozart of Florida, Steve Dutton of New York, and Jake Tanenbaum of Kansas.
138.75#
Fifty-five wrestlers populate this weight class. However, a couple of those stand at the top – Jason Chamberlain of Utah and Andrew Alton of Pennsylvania. Another one to watch is incoming freshman Austin Ormsbee from New Jersey.
152#
This is clearly the tournament’s best weight, and is a total landmine with 57 total wrestlers in the field. Leading the way is arguably the best in the nation for the Class of 2008, Alex Meade from Delaware. Meade is a two-time Cadet National Freestyle champion. Others to watch in this field are a litany of Cadet National champions, finalists, and All-Americans (and other talented wrestlers). They include Adam Hogue NJ/OH, Alec Ortiz OR, Andrew Gasber OH, Chris Kline OH, Cody Brown WY, Dallas Bailey OK, Derek St John IA, Don Vinson NY, Eric Cubberly OH, Eric Jones WA, Jedd Moore OH, Trey Edmunds NV, Tyler Koehn KS, Zac Cibula WI.
From this list, look for Ortiz or Moore to potentially stand at the head when all is said and done.
167.5#
Thirty-one participants compose this weight class. At the head of this field are Cadet All-Americans from last summer Grant Gambrall of Iowa and Corey Peltier of New Jersey/Rhode Island. Others to watch include incoming freshman Chris Phillips from Ohio, Keith Hynson from Delaware, Cooper Samuels from Indiana, and Jon Becker from New Jersey.
187.25#
Seventeen participants are registered in this weight class. Four of them stand out from the rest of the field – Cadet National double champion Romero Cotton of Kansas, Dylan Wrage of Iowa, Joe Budi of Wisconsin, and Max Huntley of Virginia. Of those, look for Cotton to head the field with Budi following right behind.
220.25#
This weight only has ten wrestlers in it. However, there are two wrestlers with Cadet National All-American credentials – both are from Ohio, Andrew Tumlin and Oney Snyder. Another wrestler to watch is Harry Turner from New Jersey.
275#
With twelve wrestlers, this weight is not heavy in participants. That being said, there are three wrestlers to watch for at the top. The first is a Pennsylvania wrestler, Sam Brownlee, who was not able to wrestle this season due to transfer issues. Brownlee was champion of the preseason Super32, but tried to transfer to Canon-McMillan from Mt Lebanon; however, the WPIAL did not approve. The other two wrestlers to watch are Cadet All-Americans from Fargo last summer – Atticus Disney and Steve Andrus.
