As I head off to college in South Dakota Thursday morning I find myself reflecting on my wrestling career in Kansas. I started out as a 64 pound 7th grader and ended up a 103 pound Senior. Alomg the way I had alot of great coaches that helped me try and reach my dream, which was to be a competitive high school wrestler. Coaches like Byron Mayes,Pat Naughton, Jim Seibert, Bill Dewitt,Kit Harris,Beau Vest,Tom Peterman,Travius Stokes, Russ Hemrick, Aaron Ely's dad Guy, Eric Akin and Coach Mark Dulgarian. I know that I am leaving off a few and I apologize for that but I can't remember everbody. I have made some great friends during my wrestling career. Guy's like Connor Macarthy , Kevin Callahan, Chaz and Dennis Wood, Adam Almauger, Austin Quarels, Austin Lorson, Nate, all the guy's from STA,Marcus Walker, Mark Somers(who taught me alot) Tanner Johnson Aaron Ely, Nathan McCormick,Collin Hase, Jesse Hardy, Brandon Kovacs, The Flynns, Aaron Patton, all the guy's from the 2006 Junior Duals team, and so many many more that I can't list them all. I also had the support of some great people along the way. Guy's like Mike Furches, Mike Rockhold, Will Cokely the Edison's, Mark Anderson, Aaron Swayze, Brett Shoffner, Jim Beltch, Eric Johnson and Charlie Knox just to name a few. Alot of these guy's helped me when they didn't have to. Althogh my career did not end the way that I wanted it to, I accomplished way more than I ever thought was possible. So as I head off to get my butt kicked at the College level, I just wanted to say thanks to Kansas wrestling for helping me to keep on the path to reach my dream of being a High School teacher and wrestling coach.

Brandon, Having the chance to get to know you this last summer at the Baldwin Camp was a pleasure, I am sure you will do well at the college level. You will get your butt kicked but keep up the positive attitude. Learn to take it on the chin and fire it right back, you'll be fine. Sincerely, Coach Jason Brown

Brandon,
I wish you the best at DWU. I wanted to also let you know that it took a kid with a special type of character to encourage the younger wrestlers across this state. You and your dad went out of your way to help Tanner and we'll always remember that!
All God's blessings to you in college. I'm sure we'll see you back in Kansas coaching before too long.

Good Luck Brandon! The Edison's will be watching and rooting for you. There is a lot of heart in that long and lean body. Work hard and enjoy life!

Brandon - 1) Your career is not over but just beginning. It is yet to be determined how it will end.
2) College is hard and being away from home is hard. You are a strong individual. Wrestling has helped you prepare for this. You can do it!
3) Keep posting. It is fun to see how the KS kids do in college
4) Give back! I fully expect you to be coaching KS kids in the near future.

Your high school career maybe over but that doesn't mean that we will stop cheering for u. Use wrestling as much as you can to help you reach your dream so that someday you can tell your wrestling kids to set up their shot and not to shoot from across the mat.
Its not over yet...
