Wow. Arguably our two best. Can't wait to have them for one more Junior Dual team!

Perhaps our new football coach will persuade Romero to play football too.

Congratulations to both young men and welcome to Husker nation.

This article was on the Nebraska website and it had some good things to say about both of these wrestlers:

http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=56&SPID=28&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=1326804

This is the part that pertains to Cotton and Koehn:

"NU adds two more talented athletes with Kansas natives Cotton and Koehn. Wrestling at 152 pounds, Koehn captured a state championship last season for Pittsburg High School. He earned All-American honors last summer in the freestyle division at the USA Wrestling Nationals. Koehn works hard off the mat also, earning a 3.8 GPA at his high school. Koehn will wrestle at 174 for NU.

“Koehn is another fundamentally-sound wrestler who knows how to win,” Ersland said.

Cotton also has his share of state championships. He will attempt to become a four-time state champion this winter, after winning titles in 2004 at 145, in 2006 at 160 and in 2007 at 171. One of the top recruits in the nation at 189 pounds, Cotton’s athleticism has transferred to other sports as well. A running back for the three-time defending state champion Hutchinson High School, Cotton rushed for 1,398 yards and 22 touchdowns his junior season. Cotton is expected to wrestle 184 pounds in college.

“Kansas as a state has done an excellent job with their kids,” Ersland said. “Their organization has provided their kids an opportunity to wrestle at all sorts of levels.”

Hats off to both of these outstanding young men! Although I must admit I was hoping they would chose the Southern Big Red school I am happy that I will get to watch them wrestle in the Big 12. Both of these guys put in countless hours of off season mat time wrestling Freestyle and Greco and that is what it takes to get to that level!

Any Kansas kids wrestle for Nebraska since Klein (Kapaun)? Didn't Hoover (Kapaun) wrestle for Nebraska, as well?

WOW! Two guys that I have so enjoyed over the years and now we can keep on enjoying them. Way to go Romero and Tyler! Way to go Nebraska! Way to go KS!

This just keeps getting better. Wrestling has given me so much enjoyment over the years and now all these guys are going to continue to feed my habit, hopefully, for many years to come.

Matt Murry (Colby) was a national runner in 2004 for Nebraska and I beleive that Brady Lamar is currently wrestling for them
