Elijah Madison, the Northmen’s previously undefeated heavyweight, was upset in the first round by Wesley Bell from McCluer 4-2. Madison was called for stalling in the third period and didn’t have a takedown in the bout.
Although, not a good thing for Mr. Madison - let this be an example to all the KS boys heading into Regionals this weekend. The slate is clean - good luck to all this weekend!
Practice like a champion today, wrestle like a champion tomorrow
i remember watching madison wrestle at state his freshman year for salina central when he got 2nd losing to caleb payne by 1 point if i remember correctly. if you would have told that kid would graduate without a title, and actually never reaching a state finals match again, i would have told you that you were crazy.
Elijah has definetely had a bad weekend so far, but overall he is still talented enough and has enough big wins he will get a D1 look if his grades are good enough. He is a good kid and this will not be the last we hear from Elijah wrestling.
It really does show though you better have your "A" game when the state tournament rolls around.
The only reason Elijah did not win state in MO, other than this year, was he had Dom Bradley (#1 HW in nation) in his class. Ask the KS heavyweights, Disney. Andrus and Zlatnik if he is good and they will tell you. He is one of the best ever from either MO or KS (actually MO and KS) and a good kid.
i completely agree, hes a stud. just blows my mind he never won a title. i do look forward to seeing what the kid can do on the college mat. i'm sure he'll be successful.
