1200 kids in two high school gyms. 130-160 matches per mat. 1/4 mats for 6, 8, 10 and some 12's.
What are your thoughts?

Not right. I just posted on a different thread, asking why a tournament would not split so that kids are only there 1/2 day versus from 8am (or earlier) until 5pm (in our case)??? Maybe this is one of the reasons why kids drop out. This is not in the best interest of a 6 year old. (or older).

When we put on our tourny it takes a lot of people to staff with everything there is to do ,You just cant find enough people that want to help,so its easy to say ,but another to do

Doesn't it take just as many people helping to host a split tournament as a whole day tournament?

I personally do like the split format for that reason only having to be there for half the day for many youngsters. I think it makes it easier for coaches only having to keep up with half as many kids matches at a time also. Coaches or families with kids in different age groups may still need to be there all day. But I definitely think it is beneficial to families and our youth to not have to spend ALL day in the crowded gyms.

Love split tournaments. When our oldest use to wrestle with Republic Co, we would go to some tournaments in Nebraska. They are all done in split tournaments. Really helps when you have small kids. If your wrestler is younger, that usually means you leave early in the morning like any other tournament, but you know that you will be leaving the gym by 1:00. You also know that there won't be a huge wait between matches which is another plus for little wrestlers. If your wrestler is older, you can stay in bed longer and mossy over to the gym at your own convenience. The older wrestlers like it because they have a gym full of people "their age" to wrestle and again, there matches are usually closer together as well.
