on the mat has stated there is not a pressing need for these youngsters to have a state, so the question for the poll is should we have a state for them? lets see if there is a need just answer yes or no and we will tally them up at the end of the week. thanks,

and yes i know this topic has been ran into the ground but figured how many people will answer poll.

You can have all of the polls you want. This same topic comes up every year at this time. Every time adding 6u to state is voted on at the state meeting it is defeated by a large margin. It's not going to happen by getting on this forum and whining about it. A large majority of the club leaders in the state don't want this to happen. If you want it changed start with your own club leader and see how they voted. If they voted no then convince them to change their vote.

for the most part tbua(whereever your from) we have asked around and for the majority, District 1 is the one who is mostly against according to the votes. But yet they will have the most wrestlers at Ottawa as well as Topeka. District 1 has the most wrestlers at these State tourny's but vote it down. Doesn't make any sense to me. Dist. 1 is against but send wrestlers to them.

NO. Unless it is a stand alone 6U or 6U and Novice State Tournament on the Sunday after HS state or before.

I like the 6 and under AND Rookie state in one tournament! I don't think that for 6 and under, there is a need to make it thru districts and subs however.

guess you have never seen some of the 5 and six year olds wrestle if you think they slap box.

ok these are the reasons why I have heard why not to have a 6 and under. it will burn them out. if a kid is going to burn out he is going to burn out. the other is not enough room. those are really the only 2 reasons I have heard. oh yeah and the one that I think is really funny is its for the dads and moms and not for the kids. now I dont care if my kid wins or loses. I just want him to have an equal chance. So I really dont care anymore if its part of the actual state or a stand alone. Like I said I would be ok with having it before highschool state and either make it a qualifier one week and state the next or have it over an entire weekend if we keep it the way Ottawa does it now. But to have a kid wrestle 8 or 9 times in a day may be a little much for the kids, parents, grand parents, coaches, directors ect. I really think they do deserve it and we that think that need to just stop wasting our time with those that oppose it and make it happen. I really think Ottawa does a good job but could make it better and bigger. I do feel for those down in the SW corner to have to drive that far and make it back to work on Monday. Wichita would seem to be the prime location but how do you justify taking it from Ottawa. Lots of if this and if that. Maybe Ottawa just needs to make this happen but locate it at the coliseum.

You should be asking how many 6under state champions kept on winning and one it again at an older division.I bet slim percentage. They start learning moves and technique about 8 yrs old.

I thought you did not want opinions on this post. My kid was out of 6U when I brought this up, and now I'm sorry I did. The more I read about it, the more I have to agree that MOST are not ready. Just observe how many cry and have to be talked back onto the mat in Ottawa. Nothing against Ottawa, I think they are doing a great thing. If I thought it would do any good I would suggest they do it a month earlier next year. Then if every tournament would only do 8U that would be great. If a kid is truly that good and loving it they could compete with 8U the rest of the year. The 6U that want to move on to something else would have a good reason to do so.

If you don't want slap boxing take out the weights of 37,40, 43,46....because 90% are going to be 6u at the big show. I don't know of many 8u weighing those weights!!!!! None of my 6u slap box they wrestle, so don't insult the ones who are good.
