I am amazed that the Topeka Tornado tounament and Turner have not posted their results. I will never understand how tournaments can do this. I would like an E-mail from the directors of these tounaments to explain why they feel it is not impotant enough to post. WEB06@sprintpcs.com

Add Salina to that, and please let everyone know what kind of response, or lack thereof, you get.

Just a thought ... contact the club and ask them to mail you the results ... then you could post them on the web!
In spite of what we might think, not everyone has access to the GREATEST WRESTLING PAGE!!!

Randy:
I had the impression that you did not need anything that technical to submit results. I thought all you would need would be either a word processing or a spreadsheet program. If that is true than most people who can post on this website would have that capability. At the bottom of the Results page, Mike Juby states that you could even just send a fax although the quality of the posting would not be as good as a computer file.
If the club running the tournament did not have access either to a computer or a person willing to type the results and send them in, I would think you could hire it out pretty reasonably. I don't think you should expect someone from another club to do this for you for free. If I was doing it for another club's tournament, I would charge for my time and have the club sponsor write the check to either my son's club or some other wrestling organization. I would also be willing to post them for free for the Johnson County Classic that my son's club co-sponsors. Someone else volunteered and did that this year. I helped set up tables, worked on a table and helped in the cleanup. A lot of the people who have called out in various topics for tournaments to post are people who do give of their time to wrestling in various ways.
I think posting results promotes our Kansas youth wrestling program. I am sure everyone likes to see the results on a timely basis (within 10 days from the tournament end would be reasonable, within a week would be better). A lot of tournaments do post them and people have grown to expect them. Mike Juby has recently endorsed timely posting as part of the tournament execution (see Maize results topic).
Overall I think we do a pretty good job. We are miles ahead of Missouri and I'm sure some other States in posting our results. There are a couple of tournaments that are big tournaments that people across the State are always very interested in (Salina, Topeka, Maize, Wichita, etc.) and some of these big tournaments do post on a timely basis. It took Salina a month to post this year and I think that is too long. Everyone wants to know who did well at those tournaments because they know they are wrestlers who will probably be in the running at State. These big tournaments take in a lot of money and I would think should be able to afford hiring someone to post their results if they cannot find a volunteer. I really think it is something that should be part of a tournament's plan.

I will have to say that I do not agree with the title of this topic. I have posted on another topic that I think it is okay for Proudofmy8 or anyone to register a protest about results not being posted.
The problem that I see with the way that this topic was posted is that it is too confrontational and the suggestion that the sponsors of a tournament just don't care is just wrong. Anyone who devotes time to organizing and running a tournament puts in an enormous amount of their time for the benefit of all of us. I do think that it is only going to be good for the individual tournament and wrestling in our State to have results posted on a timely basis. I think it is fine to expect that and to protest in a civil way to have tournaments do that. But we should do it in a civil way because these people are donating a lot of their free time not just for the benefit of their own club but also for our kids. I would also agee that if we are going to protest for posting that we should be willing to at least post as a volunteer for our own club's tournament.

I would like to point out that I have posted many other topics on the same subject. I have had NO reaction from either of the two tounaments mentioned above. I have also called the director from both of these tournaments one of which told me that I would have to wait like everyone else. The other chose not to return my phone calls or my e-mails with reguard to this subject. I would gladly post the results for these tournaments if they would give them to me however if you look in the beginning post on this topic no person has sent anything to my e-mail. So as the one director stated I guess I'll wait just like everyone else. P.s. I agree whole-heartedly that kansas does in the most part a fantastic job with reguard to the results. It happens that the only two tournaments that my son wrestled in did not.

I guess that I will explain. There was a three way tie with some question about who had taken what medals. My son has been asking about who took what medals. Besides I'll bet that I'm not the only parent who likes to see their kids name posted on the WEB. :p

Proudofmy8, I also enjoy seeing my kids recognized for achievements on the websites for the activities that they are involved in. I think my son enjoys seeing his accomplishments posted too. I think most parents and children like that type of recognition. I see nothing wrong with that and it probably helps motivate them. I have people at work and family out of town that follow my son's progress now on this website and my son's club website. Last year they knew at work how my son did at State before I got back to work the next Monday.
The main thing my son asks me about from week to week is how his competition from other parts of the State did that weekend. He and I both like to follow that. For us that is what we find to be the most valuable thing about results being posted. We are even interested now in other kids from different age and weight brackets whom we have met over the last few years. It is just good to see how they are doing.

I merely suggest that not all tournament directors have the desire to first of all, record their results, and then to post them. As has been mentioned, organizing and running a tournament takes a great deal of commitment. And some, once the tourney is over and the mats are rolled up, are absolutely done with that tourney. Personally, I stay up late after a long couple of days, to get my tournament results posted. But as you have found out, not all have that same level of commitment. I applaud those that do but do not condemn those that don't. However, I might remember that fact, when I chose what tournaments to go to the following year. I wish every club had an e-mail address. It makes communication much simpler. But slightly over half, have that capability. Having the Internet is a luxury (though I couldn't live without it ) Having results posted is also, in my opinion, a luxury.

In regards to the Turner Results, they will not be posted. I appologize for this however it is out of our control. If you check every year we have held a tournament you will see that we have always posted our results within a week of our tournament.
Unfortunately, this year 90% of our 6 & under & 8 & under brackets are missing. We are not sure if someone walked out of the bracket room with them or if a well meaning parent, in an effort to clean up, through them away on accident.
In regards to contacting us, to my knowledge we have not been contacted regarding the results.
Before making assumptions regarding us not caring about posting results maybe you should consider past years. I would also ask you to take a look as to why you are so obsessed with seeing the results that you would naturally assume someone would not give the "kids" their just credit due to lack of caring. In case you forgot a tournament is held for the kids. The parents donate their time and effor for the kids. Is you reason for wanting to see the results because you child is upset?? I somehow do not think so

Dhansen, you are correct that the Turner tournament has a great history of posting results. We all appreciate that. I was expecting you were going to post results again and I did not think you were that late yet. Have you considered either a partial posting with an explanation of why some results are missing or even just having your explanation as to why you have decided not to post this year on the Results page. This would let people, who do not read forum postings, know what your tournament's posting status is this year.
I do think some of the wrestlers enjoy seeing their names in the news. It is kind of the icing on the cake for some of them. When I was a kid, I always read the sports page first thing as soon as I was able to read. I could not wait until I could see my own name in print some day. In high school every week I would keep up with the Track & Field honor roll and see what type of distance I would need to get my name on the Discus Honor Roll List. It really did help motivate me and I enjoyed seeing what my competition had done the previous week. Also many people do have relatives out of town that get on this website and like to see their relatives' names in the lights.
Randy, I certainly do not condemn any tournament for not posting results. I would like to see them all do it because there is a great demand for it and I really do believe it helps promote the Kansas youth wrestling program and the individual tournaments themselves. I also think that there are probably more willing volunteers than we might think. Maybe your idea about people who want to see them so bad volunteering to do the posting is not that bad of an idea. It seems from some recent postings that a few of those people have indicated a willingness to do just that.

Is it a requirement to post results or a courtesy? I am sure there are very good reasons why a club does not get their tournament results posted. As said before, I think missing brackets are probably a large reason why. We have all seen the confusion around the head table at the end of a tournament (even the most organized ones). Give those clubs a break. Kansas does a GREAT job.
