Coaches and parents need to watch their kids weights. If you are that close on a certain weight you might think about going up to the next weight. It's hard enough to wrestle but to tell a kid you have to loose 1/2 lb. or more in 1 hour or less so they can wrestle is disheartening to the kid. In my opinion it's still early in the season, wrestle up a weight and see what you can do, getting to weigh-ins the night before or early in the morning just to be told your over weight is no fun for the kid. And on another note if your child has any kind of blemish on their skin that could be taken for ringworm carry your release form with you. Yelling and cussing weigh-in workers won't do you any good they are there to protect all the wrestlers. And we all know ringworm is the last thing you want to see on a wrestling mat!!!

I agree 100% with Spexy. Many PARENTS are taking the fun away from wrestling by having kids not eat so they can avoid other kids and make weight. I have a feeling if you ask these kids in 20 years what they remember about wrestling it will be that they could not eat the night before or morning so they could make weight. Let them eat and weigh what they want. They will get to the proper weight if they work hard in the wrestling room and work out on thier own if they are in to wrestling that much.
