Man, he was one impressive little dude at Newton last night! I was wondering if he has won a bunch of kids (federation) titles? I don't have any history of him since he is 'only' a freshman.

Thanks.

Im the father of Colby Watters and I appreciate the words of praise. I'm very proud of him and I am now beginning to see the effects of a great high school coach and he is as well. He had kind of a rough start in earlier years but I think his current coach has helped him work out the kinks. If you wouldnt mind giving your name I would like to catch you at one of the next tournaments and buy you some coffee. Thanks for the support.

His coach didn't win a bunch of titles either but had what some might consider a fairly successful career beyond kids federation.

Mr. Biddle thanks for the excellent info!

Mr. Watters - coffee sounds good but I don't see AC much. I live in JC (Junction City). If you are ever out this way - feel free to look me up. Dean Welsh -- email at tamwelsh@yahoo.com

Placing at kid's state is a great accomplishment, no matter if he won it or not since it is not chopped up into a bunch little sections like 6a, 5a, 4a, and 1,2,3a . . . . Many a HS state champ NEVER placed at kids would be my guess . . . I'm sure some of you others can help me out with this thought. So, I'd say your son has a natural talent that a great HS coach has and is currently shaping even more. Putting those nice points/facets to make that rough diamond SHINE! And, man did he SHINE last night!

Take care and if we ever meet again - I would enjoy sitting down and visiting with you.

Dean

I have to agree! Colby you wrestled your butt off this weekend! Although none of the Newton wrestlers made it to the finals, we came just so that we could watch you in the finals! I've always said how you are such a superb wrestle, now everyone there was able to see what I've been saying! Colby we will continue to wish you the best of luck this wrestling season! Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you! Pablo has been wrestling since he was 4. Unfortunately he didn't always have the coaches that he has had in the last 5 or so years!
