interesting note. was looking at 215lb. brackets. 5 kids from 5a-3a that have undefeated seasons. 1 in 5a, 2 in 4a and they are on the same side of the bracket. now how does that happen first of all. maybe thats a misprint but thats what it shows. and 2 in 3a. who wins that round robin bracket. you have nowak at 42-0, kriss 34-0, pierce 24-0, sommer 32-0 and kyler 34-0. let me know if my eyes are not seeing the correct thing but i just find it interesting how 2 kids that have not lost end up on the same side of the bracket and would like to know who wins. thank you.

You can go undefeated and win your regional- 4 people could- then they are placed Random regional pairings so 2 undefeated guys on the same side could happen with the top side having the other two first place finishers in theregionals on the other side

Bockman,

I posted this on another thread, might help you understand how the State brackets are set.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The State brackets are actually the least subjective of all, because there is no seating (or seeding) in them. Each regional is given a letter designation from the KSHAA when the regional hosts are announced:

http://www.kshsaa.org/WRESTLING/Regionaldesignations.pdf

The regionals are completed and as such the top 4 from each are determined. Only AFTER the regionals are completed the KSHAA releases the regional pairings matching up the kids using the 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 typical pairings.

http://www.kshsaa.org/WRESTLING/2009%20state%20pairings.pdf

I like the system because I feel it is the one tournament of the year that you can't argue the bracket. It is what it is.

I also like it because if someone loses unexpectedly as the posts mention above, you get some very interesting first round pairings.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hope that helps

i really dont think it works. 2 kids that havent lost deserve the chance to meet in the finals no matter where they are from. and your right it is what it is. you have a kid that is 3-10 making it to the state tournament by lets say only having to win one match or maybe 0 matches and others have to win 3 or 4 to get there. now you tell me who is more deserving. i think its time for we as a state to look at some of the guys that keep bringing up combining 5 and 6a.

by the way i really want to know who wins that bracket. i dont get to follow the highschool level like i used to since i am busy with the kids programs until state week. i like to read all the hype and get involved. love hearing predictions. predictions dont mean a thing but you know its the part where you get a group of people together and bs about it all is what makes it fun.
