Jake leaves for Israel tomorrow representing Team USA at 60kg in the Maccabi Games. There will be 7000 athletes from over 60 countries making this the 3rd largest sporting event in the world (behind the Olympics and World University Games). Previous wrestlers that had represented the US at the Maccabi games include Lindsey Durlacher, Ken Chertow, Alan Fried....Other prominent competitors in the past included Mark Spitz, Kerry Strug....Larry Brown had coached the previous basketball team.... Jake has been working hard with Eric Akin, Zack Roberson and the other great wrestlers and coaches at East/West Kansas. Opening ceremonies will be July 13th and wresling starts on the 14th. Kelly and I and my Dad will be there for the wrestling and then on to Egypt for a trip down the Nile.

Rob, that sounds great and we wish Jake the best of luck at the Maccabi Games.
I hope you, Kelly and your Dad enjoy your trip down the Nile. I am sure it will be a wonderful experience.
Have fun!

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Jake Tanenbaum, who will be a sophomore on the Cal Poly wrestling team this fall, earned two gold medals for Team USA at the Maccabiah Games earlier this month in Israel.
Tanenbaum earned gold in the 60kg freestyle class with wins over Dylan Flejszon of Canada (6-0, 6-0). Mikhael Golod of Russia (5-2, 5-1) and Pavel Siniavsky of Israel (5-2, 6-0).
He also won the title in the 55kg Greco Roman competition with victories over Igor Roitman of Israel (3-2, 6-0) and Artum Roitman of Israel (3-3, 6-0, fall).
Tanenbaum qualified for the Maccabiah Games by winning his bracket at 60 kilograms during team trials in Cleveland, Ohio, last May.
Also in July, Tanenbaum earned a gold medal at the Grand Prix Munich Memorial Tournament.
As a true freshman at Cal Poly last season, Tanenbaum was 6-15 overall, wrestlign at 125 pounds. He is from Leawood, Kansas.
The World Maccabiah Games is the third-largest sporting event in existence. It is held every four years in Israel and brings together Jewish competitors from over 60 different nations.
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?
