I have a boy who is joining our club. He is legally blind, but can see some shapes and colors out of 1 of his eyes. I believe only dark/light out of the other. We are looking for a way to help protect his eyes from further damage.

Does anyone know of any eye protection products out there that are designed for wrestlers and are approved by USAW and the state of KS?

Thanks.

You may want to contact the Caney Wrestling Club. They have a wrestler from their club who is blind (and a very good wrestler!). Paul doesn't wear any protective glasses when he wrestles, but they might know if something is available.

This is a Face Guard. I don't know if this is what you're looking for but I think it would help protect your eyes.

You may look into some "rec specs". I know that several years ago a wrestler from Hofstra University (I think) wrestled with "rec specs" on because he had eye trouble. This may be an option that you could use.

Ricky, you may be thinking of Jon Trenge from Lehigh.

I think you're right about Jon Trenge. I thought there was a guy from Hofstra in the past few years though who had nearly the same thing, but I couldn't find any info on the web.

I've posted a link to his bio and a video preview of a documentary covering Trenge's senior year. I'd never even heard of this film but now I'm gonna have to buy it for Walker and Texas Ranger for Christmas.
