It's something I started last year. The top 5 All-Class wrestlers in Kansas.

I have a biased opinion, but Tyler Anderson should be on that list.

Chief,

Not that it really matters since it's just a fun and subjective thing anyway, but why not wait until after the state tournaments to designate the fab five? None of them is even a state champ yet. This year that is.

Using your time travel skills? Do you know something the rest of us do not? I am assuming I should have received an e-mail on this yesterday.

Funny you don't have the only potential 4-Time State Champion Senior on this list in Colt Rogers of Smith Center. Sure he hasn't wrestled "all-class" Kansas competition this year, but he has yet to lose a match to a wrestler hailing from the state of Kansas while in high school.

He accumulated three losses last year to some saltly out of staters who may have been nationally ranked (I have no way of looking back at the results from last year since the links are for this year). All of these matches were within two to three weeks after playing in the State Championship Football game, so I doubt he was in peak wrestling shape. One of the wrestlers was from one of the top programs in Montana last year, I believe it was Billings Skyview. Another came from a wrestler from Blue Springs, MO which is annually a good program. The last loss was against a kid from either Wyoming or Nebraska. If not for meeting this top flight competition or just being in better "wrestling shape" Rogers would be on the verge of matching the likes of Bo Maynes and Zach Roberson who never lost a match in high school. He's the only wrestler who would be on that list who has never lost to a Kansas wrestler.

Just some food for thought. I don't think me getting on my soap box for Colt Rogers will do much good anyways. Maybe extend the list to "Sweet Six" or "Studly Seven", so you can include the likes of Anderson from Clay Center. Or just base this list off of seniors.

Not saying that Colt Rogers isn't a good wrestler but as you have already stated he hasn't beat anyone of all class material this year. He was ranked ahead of Moeder but I believe since Moeder has seen better competition than Rogers then Chief decided to move him above Colt. I'm sure chief would easily place him in the "Fab Five" if he saw better competition.

Better competition or not, he's going for 4 state titles, that's an elite club that except for Cokeley, the other's will never be a part of. 321A or 456A, 4 State Titles is deserving, regardless of the "level" of competition faced out of State, he has gotten it done in State when it matters the most.

I know he's not listed as #1 in the All Class but IMO he's the most accomplished at his weight.
Nationally Ranked!
Kyle Caylor is one of the best of the best!
He already has one state runner up and 2 state titles and stands a really good chance for a 3rd!
Thats pretty fab IMO!!!

Well if you want to throw in Caylor you would have to put Mark Kolmer ahead of him for this year because of the head to head dont get me Wrong Caylor is one of if not the greatest Kansas Fargo and national wrestling at his weight but i would beleive that the head to head would put kolmer ahead and Ryne vs Cade and Moeder vs Nitcher shouldnt that cancel 2 of those out for such fact that they have wrestled each other is there not undeafeated wrestlers out there that deserves some such as Cody Beasley or Jace Banner or even Finney just my 2 cents.

Awesome, one of my three favorite all time threads along with the Chief list and the annual class attack (including the proverbial "boo hoo he went to state with a losing record" whine). But I am so sorry to say Ricky, I would like no part of anything referred to as Sweet Six or Studly Seven. Nice thought but not cool. If anything, you would have to go Fab 5 + 1 or 2 or whatever. But it has to be Fab 5 because then I can use the word fabulous over and over again because that is just a cool word. Sweet and Studly....no.
Nice to see Colt come up as he is indeed fabulous, but I understand concern over level of competition.
As for my choice, if he beats Boyer tomorrow knock on wood, the man who goes to the head of the class for me is Little BadBo Pursel as he is the most fabulous of all.
I think that you should start a Man Crush list Chief.

Beasly, Kolmer, Banner, and Finney have yet to win state. In fact Beasley is ranked behind Zac Sparr.

Cade Blair is a potential 3 timer(undefeated with a close match with Cokeley)
Taylor Moeder is a potential 2 timer and maybe even 3(has a loss because of a very controversial DQ)
Chase Nitcher is a potential 2 timer(has not lost to anyone ranked below him in 2 years)
Ryne Cokeley is a potential 3 timer and is the only wrestler in the class of 2011 that can be a 4 timer(he has not loss to a kid ranked below him in 2 years as well)
Parker Madl is a potential 2 timer and is undoubtedly one of Kansas' most dominate wrestlers this year.

On the Colt Rogers and Danny Floyde topic. I would be willing to bet a lot of money that if the current "Fab Five" were in 3-2-1a they would all be undefeated 4 timers. JMO

I'd take that bet.

Cade Blair's freshman year he was JV for Valley Center. I can remember reading results from the Fredonia Tournament, he won in a one point match against a state qualifier from Burlington who went 0-2 at the state tournament. I believe he was wrestling at 130 which would have meant he would have wrestled 2X state champion Nathan Broeckelman of Norton. Safe to say Blair would not have had a cake walk as a 321A wrestler, he'd have been lucky to make it to state. He has improved 10 fold since that freshman campaign, but that year he was not quite the impressive wrestler you see now.

Nitcher and Madl freshman year's would've matched them in the same weight as Colt Rogers of Smith Center, I wouldn't say this is a gimme. Not to mention the fact they'd have wrestled one another had they both been in 321A.

During Cokeley's freshman year he could have likely won 321A, but he would have needed to go through 2X state champion Collin Hase of Silver Lake. Hase had performed well against Sharky Slyter who had beaten Ryne in the regional finals. I think this would have been an interesting matchup.

Moder is the only person I can say with confidence that I think could've won a state championship in the 321A bracket he was in as a freshman. He would've met Fracisco Antillion of Scott City who he has wins over in his career.

Don't just go and make some uneducated assumptions on how a wrestler might have performed in a classification without looking at past data.
