Colby Community College has announced the selection of David Nordhues to head the Trojan wrestling program. Nordhues will replace Steve Lampe who recently announced his retirement.
A native of Greeley, Neb., Nordhues was a four-time state champion. He was a member of the CCC wrestling squad from 2001-03, and served as team captain during the 2002-03 school year.
He continued his career at Fort Hays State University where he was a two-time All American and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champion in 2004-05. Following graduation from FHSU, he was hired as an assistant wrestling coach.
I assisted in all areas of the program, said Nordhues. I was involved in recruiting student athletes, monitoring and supporting the academic success, planning and conducting pre- and post-season conditioning programs, evaluations, and fund-raising events.
Nordhues has been the FHSU assistant wrestling camp director since 2004, and has sponsored his own wrestling camp in Greeley since 2001.
I am pleased that Coach Nordhues has accepted the job, said Athletic Director Ryan Sturdy. He is energetic and has a real passion and desire to win. His experience on the collegiate level, both as a coach and athlete, is a big plus. He is the right guy for the job. I look forward to the continuing success of the wrestling program under his leadership.
Nordhues will begin his duties immediately at CCC.
