Suggest members of the Frontier League and/or NCKL are the ones who should be contacted for clarification and explanation.

KSHSAA Staff ARE NOT responsible for this proposal and HAVE NO VOTE for or against it.

Those who do vote--the members of the exec board--have already been posted.

people this is a huge problem!!!!!! Are classes are watered down enough we r going to now have 8 state champs per weight that takes away the whole meaning of state champ! something has to be done this is not good !!!!!!! People who have the power step forward and do not let this pass! KSHSAA needs to learn its about the kids and not about the money they could make with everybody at 8 different sights. How bout you combine 6a and 5a, put all private schools in there own class and have 4a and 123a sounds better to me

The left hand does not know what the right hand it doing!!!! Did everyone realize there is a bill in the KS state house right now. I believe it's #5778 but I could be wrong on the exact number. Anyway a proposal is being debated to make all school districts consolidate until they have at least 10,000 students. That is right 10,000!!! That means all of Leavenworth Co would be one school district if approved. Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor, tonganoxie, and maybe I am missing one would all be one district. The goal is to cut out all the overlap of management, boards, etc and increase purchasing power, etc. Now I don't know that this will pass, and I would actually say I don't think it will, but something is coming to help schools with the budget issues they are facing. They are going to use virtual schools, etc to try to offset distance issues. Wow talk about shock the system.

Now compare that to the KHSHAA plan. Sounds like we might only have 1 class when we are done. I would love that from a competition standpoint. I will hold my comment from a education standpoint. I do know schools have to do something or they are going bankrupt. It also would not address private schools.

There aren't enough private schools in Kansas to create a seperate class. Looking from a wrestling stand point since this is a wrestling talk forum, private schools had little influence as a team in the 2010 state tournaments. In 6A, no schools placed in the top ten. In 5A, Kapaun took 7th and STA took 10th. 4A, St. James tied for 6th and in 321A, TMP tied for 10th. Prior to last year, St. James or TMP where never in the top 10. None of these schools placed in the top 5. Where do people think that the private schools have such an advantage? These facts don't seem to support it. As said before, we don't need more classes!

Very similiar to Missouri's setup. How do you handle the private school issue?

It appears that you are missing 16 4a Schools somewhere. Check my math:

There are currently 64 4A Schools

32 - are joined by the smaller 5a schools
+ 16 - move to 321a
= 48

This would then be missing 16 existing 4a schools, correct?

Did I miss something?

My bad - should be 48 schools in Large school

Number of schools in Medium School would remain 64-
add smallest 5a schools and subtract smallest 16 4a schools.

Will- I like Private Schools all they way around. Put them in the mix where ever they fit enrollment wise.

Illinois Population 12,400,000 with 4 classifications in basketball and 3 in wrestling

Kansas Population 2,800,000 with 4 classifications

Minnesota population 4,900,000 with 3 classifications

Missouri population 5,600,000 with 3 classifications

Wisconsin population 5,600,000 with 3 classifications in wrestling and 4 classifications in basketball

I will check the number of high schools in each state.
