Just wondering why,
All we have heard over the years is how important it is to go to the state body meeting and I totally agree. My question is when we are involved in an organization that is all about our children, why would we have the most important meeting of the year on halloween, a day when our children want their parents home to take them out trick or treating. To some its a short drive to Salina for others like myself its a 4 hour trip one way. Is there some reason it has to be on this weekend or could it have been the following weekend. I think if the state really wants all the clubs to show up, they would pick a better weekend. We only had 44 of the 75 clubs in District 1 show up to the District meeting and it wasn't even a holiday weekend. Do you think the State Meeting is going to be any better on a holiday. We had our club board meeting tonight, and I personally will not be able to make the meeting because of being out of town with my daughter at a softball tournament but will be home in time for halloween activities. I asked other board members who would be able to go to the meeting and one member replied sorry I cant go I have children that I'm spending the day with. So that got me to wondering why the State Body Meeting would be planned on that day. All I hear is its for the kids, well my kids like dressing up for halloween and having mom and dad take them out tick or treating. Just wondering?

The following weekend is the opening of hunting season if I'm not mistaken, and many dads will be taking themselves and kids hunting.

It is the youth hunt opening weekend. The second weekend in November is opening weekend. I think we need to move the meeting to mid October. There are three major wrestling tournaments being held the weekend of our meeting, not to mention the Colby CC Open and many other college tournaments. We need to adjust to the changes that are happening around us.

I think it would make sense in the future to give the ability for people/clubs to attend the meeting remotely. There are certainly a lot of ways out there to have this happen and give them the ability to vote.
