He's going to probably wrestle 100 lbs. Unless the growth spurt hits which hasn't come yet. He's weighing around 97-99 lbs.

Putting wrestlers names out is part of the business. Coaches and parents exchange info on a regular basis. You can try to be sneaky if u like. My boy is in 8th grade very close to HS. That being said he knows people will talk about his performance, good or bad, and he and his family accept that. Being a target keeps them on their heels, or wanting to be a target is sometime a good driving force.

Win or lose, in the end it's about being a good strong citizen because of your experiences (ie wrestling) you've had in your life.

On a side note, hurry up Manhattan and start ur toutney! smile

Where did you find the rule you cite? Isn't every coach expected to know those? Maybe it is that coachs first year with the program as we all know coaches move around a lot. Its definitively not fair to wrestle kids way more than there allotted time.

Pioneer Ridge (Gardner) won the Emporia M/S tourney. Good match between Luellen and Mills in the finals @ 110.

Thanks. Yeah I was just wondering about the other brackets. I am on midnight shift so it'll be tough to get to some of these tourneys. I only know the results of his bracket:

Little Apple Classic
100a bracket:

1st: Tristan Star, Lawrence South
2nd: Dalton Carley, Wamego
3rd: Jake Bazan, Junction City
4th: Alec Peirson, Riley County

If anybody knows the results of the other brackets (or bracket) please post. Even better if someone from Manhattan could post them all.

Good luck everyone!

I have seen Clay Center in the Kid's Fed and they have a great (and rabid) program.

Silver Lake 99 Marysville 10

Taking nothing away from Silver Lake as they have a lot of very talented and hard nosed Kid's Fed wrestlers, many of which I am sure are on this Jr High squad, but I have a much better idea of where Marysville's program stands today.

Marysville is much better than that score shows. Lake doesn't have anyone over 141lb. Marysville has a solid group of heavy weights, We just couldn't match up. Cole Fredrickson is a very good coach with college wrestling experience. No need for concern on the future of Marysville wrestling.

Tim,

Good to hear. I have always been fond of my memories back in North Central Kansas growing up in Belleville. In no particular order, Smith Center, Concordia, Marysville, Beloit, Clay Center, Abilene, Chapman and Wamego. There were a lot of studs that came out of that part of the state, and I am sure there are many still there today.

Garrett got to wrestle Clint Rogers (twice) and Brody Frieling from Smith Center last year at the Middle School Nationals State Tournament. He also has wrestled against kids from Abilene, Chapman and Wamego in the past couple of years. With us living in Lawrence, he doesn't see many kids from the NCKL very much, but it is always fun when he does. Good luck on the rest of your season.

Holton Wrestling - 30 wrestlers on the roster with weights at
85,90,95,100,105,110,115,120,127,134,141,148,155,165,180, and 265

Jeffeson West- 16 wrestlers listed with weights of 75,80,85,90,95,110,115,120,127,141,165, and 265

Perry-Lecompton - 8 wrestlers on the roster with weights at
75,85,90,95,100,110 and 165

I can only account for the times Holton had mat time...as I was making sandwiches and handing out drinks/fruit to our boys while Jeff West and Perry wrestled...but heard Jeff West looked to have been leading with wins.

Unofficial Results..not verified by anyone other than myself!

Holton Vs Perry 27-0
Holton Vs Jeff West 85-29

Next up will be ACCMS, Wamego and Onaga on Thursday at Holton...wrestling begins at 4pm!

up4wrestling,

Any information is better than no information. You went above and beyond to provide the information you did. I am glad that Bronson started this thread as I think the Jr Highs kind of get lost in the shuffle between the Kids' Tournaments and High School. I hate to think that Jr High wrestling will become extinct with all the budget cuts. This might be a good way to show support for the wrestling programs at the middle school level and keep this sport alive.
