.. any suggestions on what folks think are the VERY best wrestling shoes on the market to compete in ? What are you looking to compete in / buy new for your wrestler this year ?

chime in on :
1)most comfy
2) most durable
3)best looking
4)features that stand out
5)best bang for the buck etc.

Adidas Combat-speeds hands down best ever. Cheap new Combats like 49.99. Not the same as originals, "Which if you want go on ebay couple hundred bucks" but close. Not as comfortable or soft sole but close. Also not flashy but retro rocks and combats can't be beaten

My boys have worn many, Asics, Nike, Adidas......but their favorite are (mine too, don't cost much) Rhinos, you can get them at Mat Monster. Cheap but last, worn by a few State Champs I know including Kyle Caylor.

You can't go wrong with Asics (black with white stripes). Dan Gable endorsed them, and Asics makes some darn good running shoes as well, so comfort and durability is something that they are known for. BLUF (bottom line up front), I believe that the wrestler that is wearing the shoes is the difference maker in any match, not so much the shoes.

My team is going with the Rhino Brand shoe from Mat Monster. For the price, look and durability you can't beat it. Everyone needs to check out this company, they do everything from custom sublimated singlets to wall padding for your wrestling room and everything in between. matmonster.com and combatsports.com Also, if you have guys with big feet size 13 or 14 you can get their old model shoe for $4.95 right now.

I have to agree with the old Combat Speeds being the most comfortable shoes. I loved mine and still have them taped together because I can't bring myself to get rid of them.
