Parker Madl is 1-0 and Kendric Maple just beat Robbie Fisher in ultimate ot. Perry gave me the blow by blow on the phone. Maple is 2-0. This tourney is at Iowa State.
Looks like Maple went 2-2, taking a medical forfeit.
Madl went 3-2 and Sharky Slyter was 2-2.
The big match of the day seemed to be the 184 quarter-finals with Josh Ihnen the Nebraska starter vs. Kyven Gadsen ISU 1st year redshirt. Gadsen wbf at 5:45 and went on to take 1st.
A lot of great action at this tournament, it was nice to see the Kansas kids . Have to say congratulations to Derrick Weller (Piper High School) going 6-2 on the day finishing 4th at 141#
This was definitely a tough tournament some surprises for me was seeing Cody Tyler get handled and not placing at 125# and Keith Surber of Nebraska not placing at 133#
I think Cody Tyler was not so much "handled" as he was a victim of a bad draw. He had 2 good wins of 15-8 & 12-5 before losing to the eventual runner-up. On the backside, his 1st opponent was Senior Mark Kist from Wartburg, previously ISU. Cody is in his 1st non-redshirt year at UNO.

Congratulations to David! It is such an accomplishment to wrestle through the consolation brackets and place. Those matches on the backside come up so quickly, about all you can do is check your next bout # and then your name is being called. Your warm-up is the last match you just wrestled.
OK sorry, I will rephrase that! It was a surprise for me to see Cody Tyler, a wrestler that I’ve followed and admired for a long time,(He has put a couple of beatdowns on Derrick back in the day) lose two matches by the score of 11-3, and 10-0. I was rooting for HIM.
I was a bit surprised to see that Colon was listed as still being with Iowa Central after I thought he signed to be with UNI this year. Add to the fact he is a weight higher, will he still be a factor at Jucos? Didn't he dominate at 125 last year?
I believe the kid he faced for 3rd was Juco Runner Up last year at 133 and has now moved on to 4 year level.

141 had some legit studs get banged up. Morgan vs. Metellus 1st round would have been worth admission I would guess.
