Certainly doesn't appear to favor the athlete in any way. It doesn't. It favors the student instead!

Certainly doesn't appear to favor the athlete in any way. It doesn't. It favors the student instead! So you don't learn anything when you are outside of the classroom? When you get out of school you never have to travel outside of your daily work environment to complete your job requirements? How does it favor the student? Are teachers better for our kids than coaches? The rule is communistic and I am appalled by anyone that calls themself an American and thinks that it is a good thing. Land of the free??? How about Land of more rules and regulations every year. By the way, that equals less freedom in case you didn't learn that while you were in class instead of traveling. How does not letting our wrestlers go to open tournaments on weekends favor the student? HOW???

SportiePants, you are of the mindset that schools are the answer. We aren't smart enough to know what is best for our kids, we need the government education system to tell us what is best for us and our kids. You are a sheep.........or a cow....You know what happens when you fall in line and follow the path of the other sheep and cattle.........sooner or later you step in some Sh*t......
As long as a kid completes his assignments or makes it up, there should be no consequences for a kid missing school or practice or tourneys with his HS team, as long as it is going to help make that kid better.
America said a loud NO to your way of thinking a few Tuesdays ago.....
School vouchers are one answer........
Any other business that is run the way our public education system is run would land the administration in jail. Monopolies in business are illegal, and kudos to the private schools and their students and parents for making a go of it without government "help".
If people would get their heads out of the sand, they would realize that the Wall Street corruption is peanuts compared to the top heavy way our government schools are run......
I could go on all night.............Now my blood pressure is up.. I'll bring it down with a gluttonous feast of turkey and dressing tomorrow............
Happy Thanksgiving

Doug, first the mis-statements on Unions a while back now this fantasy that private schools are always better then public. Public schools, not only do they have to educate our kids, but also those whose parents do not really care, and it shows. Tough job. They do not get just the cream of the crop. (Not cutting on private schools, they do a great job, but so do most public school employees) America gets the quality of education we deserve. When was the last time one of us did anything to try and improve it. And, where did this 'the corruption on Wall Street is peanuts ...' come from. After what this president and the last one did, Wall Street has all the government's money.
Be nice to the public sector, when it snows real hard on a Friday night this winter, you will get to your wrestling tournament because some "over-paid" government worker gets up at 2am to come in during freezing weather to push snow all night. In this part of Kansas wrestling couldn't exist without them.
And, I agree with you, these are stupid rules. And, you were right on the other issue of secret ballot elections, at our national union conventions, we always had elections by secret ballot. Stops the heard mentality where people do not want to be seen as on the losing side. I guess Unions had it right all along.
Take care and hope Levi's weight is going better than Jared's.

I stand by my statements. If that government worker doesn't want to get up at 2 am to clear roads, he should get another job. Noone is holding agun to his head telling him he has to. He could go to the private sector and get a job, but then he would risk actually getting laid off if times got tough.........
