YORK, Neb. – The Baker men’s wrestling team, coming off its biggest dual victory in program history against No. 19 Oklahoma City University put on another strong showing this past weekend at the York Invitational.
Three Wildcats, Levi Calhoun (Moore, Okla.), Matt Rabinowitz (Bossier City, La.) and Darrick Smith (Oak Grove, Mo.) all qualified for NAIA Nationals with stellar performances in their respective weight classes. Calhoun took second-place in the 285 lb group while Rabinowitz finished at fourth-place in the 125 lb group and Smith finished at third-place in the 184 lb group.
Overall the Wildcats finished with 12 wrestlers on the medal stand.
“The whole team wrestled hard,” added assistant coach George Roath. “Having 12 individuals place made us extremely proud as a staff, but we’re not done yet. We look forward to seeing them reach their full potential as we progress on towards nationals.”
The Wildcats will return to action on Jan. 30th when they travel to the Kansas Cup in Hays, Kan.
