The rankings now have Ty Caldwell at #2

1 Jordan Burroughs Nebraska Senior
2 Tyler Caldwell Oklahoma Sophomore

For you wrestling fans and trivia buffs I will go down a little path of what I believe to be interesting info/trivia...

Jordan Burroughs is a returning NCAA D1 champion with a perfect 35-0 record last season at NE. This season he beat 3 time class B champ from Wagoner SD Robert Kokesh 10-4 in wrestle-off's.

Kokesh has since put together, at last check, a 30-0 record for NE! Kokesh had one loss that I am aware of in his last HS season to a wrestler named Logan Storley from Webster, SD.

Logan is currently ranked #1 in the nation on Intermat at 171. After this season Logan will likely be the 2nd 6-time state champion in the nation. The only other 6-timer that I am aware of is Kirk Wallman from Freeman, SD.

Kirk's farther Gary Wallman was South Dakota's first 4 time state champion and wrestled WITH not FOR Dan Gable at Iowa. In the Wallman family there are three sons Troy, (oldest) Kirk, (Middle) and Corey (youngest). In addition to Gary (Smokey) Wallman's 4 state titles and Kirk's 6 titles Corey won 4 titles and Troy won 4 state titles for a combined total of 18 state titles! I can not confirm this but i understand that Kirk and Troy split with the Brands boys (Tom and Terry) in HS at a tourney in Beresford, SD. I do not know the details though.

There you are. A whole lot of current and former trivia to throw around.

Google it if you don't believe me! smile

As an amendment to this story... The other night, Logan Storley was up 15-2 in a match with a very accomplished ND kid, cut him, got caught in a gator roll and was pinned. This ended a 196-0 run! What has turned out to be the big story is how he handled the loss, pure class. I feel, it is a great story to share with ALL wrestlers because it does contain many lessons for aspiring and accomplished wrestlers. This is the type of kid we all enjoy hearing about.

Excellent story, it is always good to hear about the positive impact of extra-curricular activities have on a student's life.

Good story and link. In life, sometimes you "just get caught." It's how you react to it that counts. And on the other side, never count yourself out.
