Former St Thomas Aquinas standout Jed Mamie was back on the mat this weekend, helping Lindenwood University to a 2nd place finish at the NCWA National Duels
Jed looked very good this weekend. Had a tough match against Liberty's Aaron Johnson in the final dual. We got to see them both first hand, as we dualed Liberty (champs) in the second round and then Lindenwood (second place) in the third round.
I'm hoping to see Jed this week when Lindenwood duals Maryville on Wednesday. I was surprised to see Lindenwood open at 197 for the MIAA Duals. Anyone know if Jed will be wrestling?
Jed suffered a broken nose on 02-02-12 in a match at Lindenwood against the 197#er from McKendrie. Jed's nose was broken early in the 2nd period. They stopped the match several times to "re-set" Mamie's nose and wipe-up the blood. Jed lost the match but it was very close. Since then he has missed a couple of wrestling matches due to the injury. Jed did get to wrestle Matt Baker later in the month. Baker was victorious over Mamie. Both kids are excellent examples of the quality people and wrestlers that Kansas has produced recently.
Jed took second this past weekend at the Lindenwood NCWA Conference Championship so I assume that means he will be wrestling at their upcoming National tournament March 8-11 in Daytona Beach, Fl.
