Kids got to injoy the sport. If you think its ok to smack your kid becouse he lost a match or didn't perform the way you thought they should your only going to make them hate the sport. The best year my son has ever had we took him out of a negative situation and went more positive. You hot heads need to remember these are kids and no one is getting paid for this. If they injoy what they do they will get better in the long run.

Yep, and the kids that are getting screamed at/yelled at will get burned out and not continue wrestling in Junior high and high school. Wrestling needs to be fun for these kids and winning is fun but you cannot win every match.

Every parent that can't keep their emotions in check and mouth closed ought to go a tournament where his/her child is not wrestling. Just go to be an observer. Watch it as a disinterested spectator. See if you have a different perspective on how to act as a parent after that.

If I'm the official, I tell him I've heard enough and then the next time its unsportsmanlike and then the next time he's ejected.

Kids wrestling has always had its share of crazed coaches and parents. I guess its just accepted and a "culture" thing. Lots of kids never get a real chance to be good HS wrestlers because of the unrealistic expectations and unbearable pressure of the pee-wee tournaments. Its dumb, but you can't tell that to a lot of those involved. They think their boy wrestling in the 12U class is just the end-all in life when it probably isn't going to be even a footnote, much less a good memory, in that boy's life.
