To all girls,
This is Ed Edison, Womens Director for the USAWKs. There seems to be a misunderstanding about girls state. There is only one girls state for USAWKs. We are trying to hold it in Derby Kansas and it has no affiliation with USWGA which has nothing to do with USAWKs. The Kansas Krusaders which is the state team for national competition is going to Minnesota on Friday, March 12-13,2004. Unfortunitly, this is the same week of USA Wrestling Kansas' State boys sub-district. The sunday after sub-district is girls state, in Derby,KS. Many of the girls that wrestle on the Krusaders will probably compete in the USWGA tournament but it is not girls state for the governing body of USAWKansas. Any other tournament calling itself girls state is not USAWKs state sponsored or sanctioned. It is just another girls tournament. Girls from all states are welcome at both the USGWA and the USAWKS tournaments, state or otherwise. The various states will continue to open the tournaments to all girls until such time as the tournaments grow so large that they have to limit them to the states only. We will be doing a mailer to all girls with a USAW card in KS with all the opportunities for girls this year. We also will be having a summer camp, which will be with quite affordable. If we can get enough girls in cadet and junior ages, will can also field a team to Fargo in July. We want to help girls wrestling grow. Please make yourselves know so we can give service to you. On the Minnesota trip we have funding to provide transportation to and from Minn. If you can afford to pass on boys state. WE WANT YOU.
