Can someone explain the reasoning behind no weight allowance for the high school division at the Kids State Tournament? These boys have had a 2lb. sometimes 3lb. weight allowance since after Christmas to allow for growth. Now in order to keep wrestling through kids state they have to make a weight that they havent had to make since before Christmas? I know...they can bump up a weight but what is the logic in the kids rules being different than the KSHAA rules? Just asking because I'm curious. I thought we wanted to keep as many kids out through kids state. This seems like it could deter a few.

Most High School Wrestlers will bump up several weight classes, the will do kids for fun and not want to pull alot of weight. The pound allowance is just to help them make it through the High School Season. Those that want to wrestle will and their decision will not be swayed by a pound or two. Those who don't want to, were probably not going to anyway.
