Olsen is at 152, so Olsen Vs. Lombotte. That is worth the price to get in right there!

Holy C--p Batman, where did Lansing come from. Running neck and neck for first or second ay Eudora. They did good also at The Leavenworth Challenger last week. Think CHIEF had them with only one ranked 5A wrestler (Olson at 145--but has been wrestling at 152). Looking at Trackwrestling looks like Lansing has several wrestlers in the weight class semi-finals (first or second place pool finishers)!

Makes a point---tournament success is a matter of team depth and losers bracket strength.

Mill Valley, Spring Hill, Prairie View doing good also. Baldwin just jumped into the race.

I have two Lansing kids ranked. Olsen and their HWT made the final. STA entered 8 wrestlers with 4 in the finals. 5A is loaded and deeeep.

On your 12/10/13 5A ranking do not see the Lansing heavy weight! May be on next weeks ranking?

Top 5 at Eudora.

1 Lansing, 239.5
2. Mill Valley, 238.0
3. St. Thomas Aquinas, 226.5
4. Prairie View, 220.0
5. Baldwin, 191.0

Team title went down to the heavy weight championship won by Lansing's Mason Naphy.

Good job Lansing

Mill Valley was missing their 138 pounder. He would have won that weight making the team outcome a little different.

Not only was Mill Valley missing their #2 ranked 5A 138 pounder, they were missing their #5 ranked 120 pounder, both should be back after Christmas.

Just the facts. Making sure you understand that the results, from a team perspective, don't give you a case to argue that team rankings should change. If you look at the 32 5A teams only, it changes everything.

Don't understand your comment!!!!!

Made no mention of rankings, except for the comment that only one Lansing wrestler (their 152 pound 2012 state champ) was ranked, and yet they did great as a team at the Eudora TOC. (one of the better early season tournaments). NOTE: can probably expect a lot of both team and individual class rankings and all-class rankings to change this week. And, perhaps the rankers should ignore any out of state matches--don't really care how someone did in Iowa, Colorado, Oklahoma, etc.

Bill,

Wrestling is wrestling. I am pretty sure you are the only fan that doesn't care about matches that happen out of state. Where were your comments last weekend when lots of out of state teams came to KS to compete? Do you think they shouldn't be invited either?

No. Bring them in. But they are not in the Kansas rankings--nor do they count for more than just a match, win or lose.

Again, why travel long distances when there is good competition, especially in season. Out of season travel is something else, plus out of season travel and competition is probably a better resume maker for wrestlers aspiring to wrestle in college (of course combined with a good in state in season record).

The competition is not as good locally. That's the point. I applaud Chanute and Ark City for going to Perry yesterday. Awesome competition. Same reason Ark, Garden City and St. James will be at the Stampede this weekend.

The double standards are embarrassing. Teams have been splitting teams for decades. Our best team in Kansas is being attacked for providing opportunities for their wrestlers.

It didn't surprise me that a SJA JV kid made the finals and another beat the #1 seed. Top programs go the extra mile.

"The competetion is not as good locally". Now there's a comment that helps kansas wrestling.

BS!!!! Perhaps the reason competitiveness is down, if it is down, is teams getting on the bus to travel to a supposedly better tournament. Something about grass is greener on the other side. Might have happened but don't recall seeing Ark City at the Bobcat or Eudora. Don't recall Tongie or Chanute as a power house teams at the Bobcat. Have seen Garden City, Derby, Andover, Goddard but don't think any of them buried the local competition.

That comment is true in every state! Traveling to meet national competition is the recipe for growth. My favorite events of the year are when we take the best we have and battle the nation.

JW, do you really disagree with that statement?

Chief.....

i have no issue with teams traveling to wrestle. Seeing the same faces week after week is not good for anybody. I dislike the arrogance when teams say we are traveling to get better competiton.
and if you are going to do it pack up your whole damn team and go wrestle. And if you dont think you have any competion...look around and find it...wrestle up / down. (I think the other post called it the Olsen Way.)

I do not want anymore good teams leaving Eudora. This year it was one split / jv team. next year it will be three...then four. JV teams waterdown the brackets.

Ark City goes to Newton which is the same weekend as Bobcat. Grand Island goes to both the Council Bluffs tournament and Newton and they are a premier team in Nebraska. Eudora is a good tournament but to call it a tournament that is as tough as Bobcat, Newton, Gardner-Edgerton, or Garden City (all of which host teams from out of state) is pretty ignorant.
