The Matrix will not be released before registration is closed. Doesn't the matrix just tell us how many kids are in brackets... Why would we keep this a secret Unless you are wondering about traveling across the state and there be nobody to wrestle, why would it matter to know the numbers? Enter and show up and wrestle, it shouldn't matter if there is 8 or 15 kids in your bracket.

Which is exactly what I do teamroper. For example last week Manhattan released the matrix right away. I noticed it had 15 kids in my sons age and weight. We decided to go there instead of your tournament because we were assured they had the numbers. And in the end made a good choice because hutch only had 3 kids at that same age and weight. We are driving from way out in western Kansas and Hutch or Manhattan are far (hutch was closer) we would rather get more matches for the long drive. Now with Maize I am sure there will be good numbers across the board...not as worried, but would still like to know.

The reason is because some tournament directors don't want you to see the low participation numbers. But this particular tournament never disappoints. But on the other hand it would be nice to see the numbers on the 14U with middle school and all. Its hit and miss this time of year.

The ones that use it to run is why I am against posting it. Normally knowing that is the case most tournament directors will tell you if they are asked. I know if you told me the deal I would have no problem telling you 3 kids. What sucks for tournament is releasing them then spending the next 3 days fielding change requests because there are 15 in your weight. Those don't get any sympathy from me in getting moved.

I don't know that dodging competition is an issue. Sometimes we chase competition just to get matches and cut weight or wrestle up to get big brackets.. I'm sure others do the same

On a separate note, just so I can be prepared to whip out the cash when I am asked, do the coaches need to pay the gate fee as well as pay $10 for a band beyond 10 wrestlers. We have 12 wrestlers and 3 coaches going, so will we need to pay to get in AND pay for an extra coaches band?

In the future please check coaches credentials then follow through keeping every Tom, Dick, Harry, Sally, and little sis off the floor. I was a little frustrated paying the 10 dollars for the wristband which was needed because we had 13 wrestlers only to have to fight my way through a crowd 1/2 of which did not do the same. That's my one and only gripe, neat venue I'm sure the configuration could be redone to make things less congested, keep the parents in the top 1/2 of the stands and leave a couple rows of chairs for coaches then the fans can see. Good competition, great awards, mostly good refs.

I am with you lane. If I need to pay ten bucks ok. But to have all the extra people down there was nuts. 1/2 of them did not even buy the bands. If bands need to be on there needs to be coaches with them on.No coaches card no floor pass. Was a good tournament.

We thank you and welcome the comments for our tournament this weekend. As it being the first time away from our high school and at the Kansas Star Arena we did not expect things to go perfectly. We will address all issues to make the Battle Of the Belt a much better and successful tournament for 2015. We thank you all for attending the tournament and hope to see you again next year.

Overall we were very pleased with the tournament. We heard a rumor that this tournament might be changed to a National tournament next year, is this true? If so, does that mean the weigh ins will be on site only? We love the option to have hometown weigh ins for tournaments but HONESTY is a MUST!!! If all clubs are NOT being honest about weigh ins it isn't fair to the kids.
The concession stand was extremely expensive but I am sure that is a Kansas Star issue so probably not much you can do about that....we loved the Kansas Star site it was really nice.

I also think on sight weigh ins are the way to go for tournaments like this one. Im not accusing anybody of cheating but my son had an Oklahoma kid in his bracket 110# (I won't mention what age group) that was bigger than the 120# kid's. I just think on sight weigh ins would eliminate any doubt.
