Olympic wrestling was cut and then added back as an Olympic sport last year. My question is: Do Kansas high school wrestling coaches support Olympic wrestling enough? How many head high school coaches have at least 4 kids participate in Freestyle and Greco every year?
A lot of head high school coaches have never had a kid do it at all. Its way worse than this. They usually say rules prohibit them from helping, and they encourage them to join clubs but they don't BC their focused on other things or just don't want too. Yet, were all mad when wrestling was cut from the Olympics.
Coaches, start influencing kids at younger ages, instead of waiting till highschool to encourage summer wrestling. Its easier to influence 4th-7th graders. They respect you a ton and you can coach them.
Let's make Kansas wrestling better and coaches please encourage spring/summer wrestling more than ever this year. Olympic wrestling needs your support!
